The restaurant and theater shooting you didn't hear about

Two days after CT shootings.. Why? Because an off-duty officer working in the theater shot him before he could kill more

Detective Louis Antu, spokesman for the Bexar County Sherriff's Office, said the shooting began at a nearby China Garden and “carried on into the theater.”

"At one point, the suspect fired at a San Antonio Police Department patrol car, Antu said.

“He was shooting at a marked unit,” Antu said. “He knows he was shooting at an officer so that's (an) automatic (charge of) attempted capital murder.”

After the suspect reached the theater, an off duty Bexar County Sheriff officer who was working at the theater shot at him and possibly struck him, Antu said.

“She took all appropriate action to keep everyone safe in the movie theater,” Antu said.

Only local news covered it. This was an early report and the off duty armed officer did shoot him 4 times.

The reason why no one heard about it is because a police officer did his job, nothing more, nothing less. The man might be a hero and kudos for him, but when it happens forty-eight hours after twenty children were mass murdered it didn't even hit the radar.

It was a she.. If there wouldn't have been an armed guard at the theater off duty police officer or not more would have been killed.

The CO theater shooter went out of his way to go to a theater which was a gun-free zone so something like this wouldn't happen.

After reading the article... It turns out the "off duty office" was unable to take out the shooter, and it wasn't until after officers arrived at the scene that he was taken down.

I'm positive he prevented the shooter from killing someone... The truth is we watch way too much TV and we think everyone is James Bond and that an officer or someone else with a firearm is going to take out the shooter, and usually that's not the case. It wasn't the case with Columbine, and it wasn't the case here - the "off duty officer" was only able to wound the gunman AFTER police arrived on the scene.

We will get to the point where we will have armed guards at schools, movies, churches, government offices, and other large buildings.

Maybe...

Seems to me the off duty police officer was only able to wound the shooter AFTER police arrived. The only reason she was able to hit the shooter is because the shooter was firing on police officers.

How long did it take this off duty office to respond? Two minutes? Three minutes? Long enough for police offices in police cars to show up....

I'm sorry, but once the shooter pulls out a gun it's too late. The shooter will be able to take out two or three people with a small handgun long before anyone will be able to respond - and usually more. It's not like a bad guy takes out a hand gun fires a shot and misses and someone else will be able to understand the situation, ID the shooter, draw their firearm, and take out the bad guy.

The police officer was driving by heard the shots, followed him into the theater and instead of shooting him he shot a bystander. She (the guard) chased him down and shot him

The later report

The cops should not have guns as they work for the local government. Only citizens should have guns. Ban guns from government.

The gun freaks are getting more sad by the day.
There is no point in discussing with these imbeciles anymore. If someone thinks the solution to gun violence is more guns you already know you're dealing with a redneck with an iq of 70.
