Anal Hobbit was in the movie - good make-up/CGI effects job...too bad though that the bukkake scene ended up on the cutting room floor, as I thought it provided the emotional glue and semen goo to hold the movie together, and truly explain the story in a way which would move people and improve their understanding of the story.

I'm predicting a box office flop... :upsidedow

It was awesome. I guess people who say it's bad just are not into that kind of fantasy movies. It simply is not a bad movie.

I really liked it as well.

Diomed 01-02-2013 03:12 AM

I liked it better than LOTR.

It is fantasy, which I do enjoy. It certainly wasn't a bad movie compared to the total shit they put out these days.

Jakke PNG 01-02-2013 03:17 AM

It's pretty good, and the visuals were awesome.
However, I'm pretty astonished that Jackson can turn a 300 page book into ~6+ hours of movies. At least they should contain all the details from the books :)

Validus 01-02-2013 05:18 AM

It was a bit too long for my liking and now I've got to wait for the next part. The 3D was pretty good, but I am not convinced that 3D movies are my cup of tea quite yet. Maybe I am just getting old!

I saw it in Imax 3d with the high frame rate. I don't recall seeing anything better than this, ever.

Ya, you are right. I got conned into watching it in UltraAVX 3D (whatever that really means), but should have one to the IMAX 3D version. Next time :)

SiliconToad 01-02-2013 05:25 AM

John-ACWM 01-02-2013 06:44 AM

I would give it a 75-80/100. It was entertaining, good production quality, and of course a good story. Just a bit long, with a lot of details (like the book). Def. worth watching on the big screen though IMHO.

I personally wasn't bored for even a minute.

AllAboutCams 01-02-2013 07:49 AM

i don't know why people like it i hated it
i love LOTR and have watched each movie many times but come on the acting is very poor to start the story follows the book very well but i felt very disappointed that it was not like LOTR it was made to feel like a kids film
what is with the film when people are talking then they move quickly then its normal speed then they move quick again
also 3D is pure shite it might be the cinema i went to but holy god the film felt out of focus most of the time i must have spent at least 30min of the film with my glasses off
cost me $56 for 2 tickets

It's called high frame rate. It actually works way better than a normal frame rate. You simply don't seem to understand it.

Obviously the cinema. The movie is sharp as fuck.

So out of 3 reasons why you didn't like the movie not 1 has anything to do with the movie itself. It's just you who doesn't seem to understand certain things.

? I simply commented on the 3 things you said you didn't like about the movie. Of which none makes sense. Maybe you have others reasons. Should i guess them or something?

I mean seriously...blaming the movie for being a kids story??

on a serious note did you think the acting was the same lvl as LOTR i did not just seemed like it was filmed by another director or something. hence my reference to the kids film i was expecting the same as LOTR which is probably why i did not like it

It sure is different. But not in a bad way imo. The hfr version you saw also makes it look different. Some people can't get used to it i guess.

ADG

It's central to the narrative, how else would Gandalf the Gray become Gandalf the White?

Personally I cant deal with the HFR at all, I think that what the mind typically interprets as dramatic fluid movement is just the dumbed down 30 FPS. When I see things in HFR, much closer to reality, the actors look like they are acting, their movements all look stiff and practiced. The hair majestically flowing in the breeze looks like there's a fan just off camera. The "natural lighting" looks like stage lights and smoke machines. It looks like exactly what it is, a bunch of actors in costumes and makeup, its makes it very hard to suspend disbelief.

Although i know exactly what you mean i don't have that problem at all. (i was actually worried it would have that effect on me) I just consider it a very sharp and life like movie. I'm not sure why it's so different for different people.
