Where is the best place to incorporate?

I am wondering where the best place is to incorporate cheaply and easily open a bank account.

Depends on what you plan to do.

Some jurisdictions are easy and inexpensive enough to incorporate/open bank acct, but you won't be able to get a contract with processing companies with them.

The town / state you live in is typically the easiest route to go.

You need to provide more information than this.

If you are just looking to open a business bank account, you simply need to swing by your local county clerk's office (if U.S. based). You pay something like $10-25.00 typically, and register a company name. This would be a D.B.A. (doing business as). You can then take that form to the bank, and open up a business checking account.

Now, if you want to go an LLC and Fed Tax ID route, that is a different enterprise. I would recommend you open up the yellow pages, and look for a lawyer who can do this for you. It is anywhere from $350-500.00 all depending, so feel free to shop around. You can also do this (I'm told) with that legalzoom website as well.

Either way, this is a bit more pricey, but you will have an LLC and Fed Tax ID so you do not need to provide your SSN. Once you get this finalized, you take those forms to the bank, and open up a business bank account under the new LLC name and FTI.

The main issue here is time. How quickly you want to get set up, and the legal structure you prefer or are wanting this business to be established as. If this is a long term business, and you plan to be doing it for awhile, I would recommend you spend a few bucks to go the LLC route.

Good luck toots.

I did none of that. :2 cents:

You do NOT need a lawyer to incorporate or start an LLC its easy to do and there are plenty of inexpensive sources online for doing so.

True. You can do it all yourself if poor, have a lot of free time, and a few stamps.

Why do you act like it is a PITA? All you need is a Federal Tax ID #.

AutumnBH 01-06-2013 05:40 PM

Hong Kong corp + Singapore bank account or vice versa is a good combo.

Your state must be different than mine. We need to do that or we can not do business in the state.

MrMaxwell 01-06-2013 05:57 PM

DE/NV
I think in NV no one has to know who owns it if you do some legal things or whatever else and they're both just good because I have always heard that they are

My thoughts exactly.

Any time I have opened a business bank account they requested copies of the docs (DBA/LLC) in hand.

:2 cents:

baddog 01-06-2013 06:40 PM

Well, as I do not have a DBA, apparently not in CA.

woj 01-06-2013 06:43 PM

there is slightly more to it than just getting a tax id #... :2 cents:

you aren't applying for a library card, a fuckup during incorporation could cost you $1000s later on, so unless you know what you are doing, I would spend few hundred bucks and have a professional set it up...

masubuko 01-06-2013 08:42 PM

incorp.com Nevada and Wyoming are great if privacy is a concern.

Barefootsies 01-06-2013 08:56 PM

My Thoughts Exactly.

I don't know where you guys replying are living but you seem to have done things the complicated way...

In Florida, I can (and have) setup a LLC, DBA S or C Corp within 5 minutes online with the state and have the documents needed to open bank accounts, get credit and just about anything else needed from food service suppliers to corporate banking cards, within 24 hours.

https://efile.sunbiz.org/ficregintro.html

As soon as that new company is registered and shows on the states website, I am good to go with any new company formed... For between $50 and $150 a time depending on the type of company I am forming.

My suggestion for those of you not yet having a company formed, would be to seriously look into the benefits of setting up an LLC in your home state.

Once you have the stuff filed with your state, simply go to the IRS website and request a Federal EIN number, it takes less than 5 minutes and you get the number immediately via their site, with all the Federal papers being received around a month later in the mail.

He was talking about getting a bank business account. And there are plenty of online resources to set up an s-corp online very easily.

A good lawyer in the Philippines could do itfor $500 and will even open accounts. Just be clever with corp. Description. Never do business in ur own name.
