The Merits of Intermittent Fasting?

http://blog.stack.com/wp-content/upl...te-629x428.jpg

I read of an article somewhere that fasting might actually be beneficial for you. I'm currently on a diet to reduce weight, lower my uric acid levels and blood pressure. As much as I want to exercise many times I week, I have too much work to do that I can only muster 10 to 15 minute walks everyday.

After a shallow research into internet, I've come across Alternate Day Fasting Diet.

Quote:

In a nutshell, this diet involves alternate day fasting, eating very little on one day followed by eating what you?d normally have the next day.
Quote:

One small human study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition has shown how alternate day fasting can aid weight loss. In this study, 16 normal weight adults followed an alternate day fasting regime for three weeks. On fasting days they had nothing but calorie-free drinks whilst on feasting days they were allowed to eat whatever they wanted. At the end of the study, the adults had:

* Lost an average of 2.5 percent of their initial body weight.
* Lost four percent of their fat mass.

This indicates that they didn?t consume two days worth of calories on feasting days to make up for the lack of calories on the day of fasting.
What do you think of this? Is this a good inclusion to a diet plan?

I think that its not that great of an idea over all.

If for now all you can do is 15 min, then just start cutting back on what you eat.

Lower the carbs by 80% per day. Lower the fat as well and eat something small every 2 hours or so.

Also cut out at least 80% of the sugar from grain sugar to fruits etc.

If you had time to do reasearch on a bunch of dumb fad diets and tell us about it; then you had extra time that you could have been walking. Also if walking is the only excercise you can do then you are in trouble. Don't care so much about when and what you eat, just how much. Instead of eating the entire pizza just eat a couple of slices a day.

There was a panorama on it a while ago. They proved unarguably that it was a good thing to do to increase your lifespan. "Eat, Fast and Live Longer".

So where does the fisting come in - before eating or after?
