Wierd Google Results anyone?

Something is going on...

Fat Panda 01-07-2013 06:57 PM

ya shits gone haywire

hony 01-07-2013 06:59 PM

Any specifics? It's all kind of different crazy for a long time, what happened today?

AdultPornMasta 01-07-2013 07:02 PM

Yes. Very odd search results with "Suggested" appearing at the lower left of the monitor, including the term(s) for which I originally searched.

One of these days people are going to stop relying on Google and get out there and market!

:2 cents:

I've seen this happen a couple times...where I've had nailed big terms, then your site would disappear (as if in penalty) and then come back up.

The odd thing is the sites I'm talking about aren't even heavily SEO'ed, while page where I did do more tricky shit are holding in there.

It makes no sense.

Also seeing galleries indexed with affiliate codes where brand names should be.

It's like the algo has gone 7 years backwards IMO.

Fat Panda 01-07-2013 07:38 PM

Not enough IMO. Maybe that fucked up the whole algo.

I'm still seeing torrent results in front of legitimate SERPS...kinda blows.

bloody google!

I've noticed some strange things like this in the past also. Sometimes I get some great top results, then a few days later, or maybe a few weeks later, it drops entirely. Nowhere to be found in the listings.

I read somewhere that Google is now weighing "Time On Site" as a factor in position. Apparently to indicate that if they don't stay long, it isn't worth going to. Hard to say really, but I have also noticed an increase in secondary / alternative search engine traffic lately. Lycos, Yahoo, Excite, Dogpile, Bing and so on have been picking up.

Diomed 01-10-2013 01:36 AM

Time on site is a big issue for my sites.. They are not meant to spend a lot of time on my sites.. Its not part of my pitch.

lucas131 01-10-2013 02:44 AM

something is going on, few hours ago i havent been on first 14 pages, now i am on 9th with 6bot, so lets pray and hope :)

Something I noticed:

Pretend I have a site at #1 for a solo models name. I have had this spot for years. I have been doing well with it and the bounce rate is very low. Everything is fucking awesome.

Now pretend it goes to page nowhere and the site that replaces mine has links that aren't for the girls name. Yet it ranks for her name. On top of that his backlinks are almost all dead or on sites that haven't been updated since 2008?
