Is Wordpress a lazy way of building a site/blog ?
Besides being lazy, what are the advantages of using Wordpress over coding a site on your own?

advantages
- plugins - lots of those that will help you modify WP into whatever you like - themes - lots of free themes - lots of cheap and nice looking paid ones too - maintained open source code - can be very secure applying a few tricks - easy to maintain and upgrade... - easy to backup (especially with wordpress to dropbox plugin) so in general it's GREAT platform and def. my favorite one... I have great experience with WP and I really like working in WP... If there's no need - don't develop anything custom - you're just wasting time and money... |
why waste your fucking time and money?
wordpress is superior and FREE...its a no brainer |
I agree totally with the above responders :2 cents:
Pretty simple logic, WP is a clean mean operating machine. :thumbsup |

There's a massive eco-system around WP that most people can benefit from.
It's just a damn shame the code is so bad and written in PHP. |
There is no money in WP sites. Move on :pimp

maybe because it breaks down the barrier for millions of people to setup a blog who don't know how to code
</retarded thread> |
You can spend weeks coding your own system and at the end of the day you'll have a website... With no tools. You can spend a week or a month coding the same thing with half of the options, and in ten minutes I can have a wordpress blog up and running with all of the bells and whistles....
Call it cheap, call it lazy, or call it productive - your choice. It's nice having one system that everyone uses. People make plugins that are great and hand them out for free. Anything I need, someone has thought of it already. Why code stuff if you don't have to? |
