Drinking Diet Soda Linked to Depression

Possibly those who are depressed over things such as their weight are more likely to drink diet drinks rather than diet drinks causing depression. ;)

Depression diagnosis's are probably up just as much.
You cannot turn on the TV or radio without hearing about depression and so and so can fix it. |
You've got to be nuts to drink that stuff :2 cents:
|
Life itself is linked to it.

Who is drinking four cans of cola a day? Wow. I'd bet being a lethargic fat ass is probably the real reason they are depressed.

Also, who the fuck drinks four or more cans of anything per day? |
I think I probably drink 6 cans of Diet Pepsi a day. Shit.

what i don't understand is how people drink 10 cans of beer in a night - i can't drink 10 cans of water or orange juice or soda. most of the studies are so dumb - amongst people who drink diet soda is a large % who are obese and no doubt not happy about it, so that explains some of that depression. and the same goes for the regular sugar drinks. people with their shit together have self discipline - they don't become fast food junkies, alcoholics, potheads etc they don't have to pay me to do a study - i'll just make some up and my study results will be just as valid. 1)People who bite their nails are 35% more likely to suffer from anxiety disorder. 2)People who have finished a college degree, earn more than $100,000 a year and go out socially 2 times a week suffer from depression 40% LESS than the control group in our study |
Drinking any amount of diet soda may induce full on suicide with me.
Shit is nasty. I have no idea how people drink it. |
Aspartame is proven to be a neurological inhibitor ... much like fluoride.
There is not really any new info here. |

who the fuck drinks 4+ cans of soda a day?
|
It's all fucking garbage. Diet OR regular. Stay away from that shit. Even if it doesn't give you depression, it can (and usually does) give you a fat ass, rotten teeth, and other health problems.

Living linked to dying as well ...

They also drive cars and wear shirts. We should look into that as well.

One can of soda is 12 oz.. One large McDonald's pop (as an example) is 32 oz.. Do the math. That is ONE drink, at possibly ONE meal, in a 12-18 hour day. How many additional drinks throughout the day do you believe the average person will have? |
I don't understand why anyone drinks sugar water (diet or otherwise).

Four cans of diet soda a day?
I drink a liter or so of seltzer a day, but that's just carbonated water. No harm there. Aspartame is lethal in concentrated doses, so watch out. You may be poisoning your brain. I would still rather drink diet soda than regular. SO much high fructose corn syrup in that garbage, it disgusts me. |

this study is as worthless as the last study they did on it claiming it causes obesity and heart disease. It's open without consideration to the lifestyles they are living. Is the average person in that study eating a proper amount of vegetables? Are they getting a responsible amount of exercise? Do they eat peanut butter? There's about a billion variables that can skew results like these which completely makes them worthless and nothing more than a flash in the pan story filled with pseudo scientific results.
The truth is aspartame is the most heavily tested additive in history and they have yet to find any repeated results that would prove there is any harm caused from it. That being said anyone who consumes too much of anything that chemical heavy is probably not on the right track to being healthy in the first place. |

Can you find one from a respected medical journal? Peer reviewed? There are lots of blog posts saying it is addictive, but I cannot find any decent research to back that up. |

Potato chips and ring dings may not cause an actual physical addiction, but the pleasure some people get from junk food can develop into a mental addiction, for sure. |
I have just been doing some research on the net on this subject and the levels of BS are amazing!!!
Something I have noticed - In general if someone tells you something is good for us we are immediately skeptical and question it. If on the other hand we are told that something is bad for us people are much more willing to accept it as fact. I assume its because if people tell something is good its because they often have something to gain. We fail to see that it is often also the case when people tell us something is bad. |

Phenylalanine - Essential amino acid. Precursor to dopamine, general nootropic (gives you that good feeling), and anti-depressant. |
Most people don't do the research, but particularly with Aspartame it's important to know the full story :thumbsup

Aspartame is linked to leukemia and lymphoma
The combined results of this new study showed that just one 12-fl oz. can (355 ml) of diet soda daily leads to: - 42 percent higher leukemia risk in men and women (pooled analysis) - 102 percent higher multiple myeloma risk (in men only) - 31 percent higher non-Hodgkin lymphoma risk (in men only) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23097267 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16507461 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17805418 |
is beer good for you?
|
I haven't drank any kind of soda in years.....
Having said that, it's a proven stat that over 90% of people that breath the earths atmosphere die within 80 years. We need to get the hell off of this deadly planet! . |
