Police in Los Angeles have arrested more than one suspect in connection with last week's hostage taking of 14 clothing store workers, one of whom was stabbed and another sexually assaulted.

Sgt. Dennis Beacham told The Associated Press Sunday night that the arrests have been made. He declined to elaborate, saying an official announcement would be made Monday.

But persons familiar with the investigation told the Los Angeles Times that three people had been arrested, including one on Friday and another on Saturday. The men were not identified and police did not release details.

Investigators had strong evidence linking the men to Thursday's brazen robbery, including physical evidence and security camera video, the Times said. Prosecutors will decide this week whether to file charges.

One employee was stabbed and another was sexually assaulted before the three-hour ordeal ended early Friday at the Nordstrom Rack store at a shopping center near Los Angeles International Airport.

Police officers and SWAT team members swarmed the shopping center that also has restaurants and a movie theater. Officers found most of the hostages locked in a storage room and two others in a bathroom, police said.

The employee who was stabbed was treated and released at the scene, police said.

To help identify the suspects, detectives conducted numerous witness interviews and examined surveillance video from inside and outside Nordstrom Rack as well as from surrounding businesses.

the point is if there were guns in the store the guy would run away and come back with a gun next time...then instead of just a stabbing and raping there would be a blood bath and raping and shooting and what not...

its simple logic...fire with fuel...if you want to extinguish a fire you just need to add more fuel...

it will also increase airport security if everybody is packing...man they should pass you through a metal detector and if you are NOT armed they should give you an AK and a couple of clips...

also they should install front and back gun turrets on all new cars...cant be without guns!

also, to prevent home invasions and keep the motherland safe, they should allow for civilians to turn their lawns in to mine fields!

The weapon used wasn't a gun, so the 'anti gun' supporters can't care less. Not sure how many times I have to say it, they don't care if people get killed, or how many, so long as the tool used wasn't a gun.

And what's your point here? That if they had guns they would be able to protect themselves? You mean, just like that gun nut who made the videos on Youtube who was brutally shot and murdered in his house while surrounded by firearms?

Maybe if they had firearms the kidnappers would have gotten them, and instead of one of them being raped four of them could have been shot dead.

In my opinion to the weapon policy in the US is a joke, people that is not in the military have no use or should never been allowed to own a automatic rifle or any kind of weapons that is ment for use in war. No wonder people get killed like flies in this country with laws made to benefit the companies that make weapons, and easy access to "mass destruction weapons (automatic rifles)" I am glad i live in Europe and we have very strict weapon laws.

I do agree that civilians don't need to own assault type weapons. However, If someone put a 20g shotgun to your ear and pulls the trigger, you will be just as bad off as being shot with an assault weapon.

One of the things I fail to understand about "gun nuts" is that they believe in this like a cult, and instead of thinking for themselves they just repeat anything the NRA and other gun nut sites spit out. I love how they talk about Chicago having "500 homicides" this year while having the "strictest gun laws in the country" when the truth is the NRA is chipping away at those gun laws, and 500 is half of the 1000 homicides they used to have. I also love this town in GA with mandatory gun laws and how they claim this is proof that gun ownership is safe, while my hometown is nearly twice as safe. It just makes people look utterly fucking stupid.

Then they want armed guards at my kid's school. You know, because I want my kids surrounded by under paid rent cops armed with assault rifles.

I own firearms; I own an assault rife - more than one really. For me a firearm is a tool, not a fucking toy. I don't want a P90 because it looks cool or because I use it on COD; These are people that shouldn't have firearms.
