part of the reason why i would be worried in the USA ( not that im going there any time soon ) but here if you get in troubble they will beat you up, while you piss the wrong person off in the US, you'll get a bullet..
also the reason why i would not get a gun, even if i was allowed to have one.. if things get out of hand its better if a gun does not play a part in a messy situation.

There are legitimate reasons to own a weapon like hunting etc.

Of course! Several back in the states and recently, after receiving one of those phone calls most only see on TV or in movies telling me I WILL sell my business or WILL take a 50% partner, I purchased a Baikal DB and a Glock. Also acquired a carry permit for the 9mm.

Yup, own a few and plan on purchasing a few more this year. Going to look into a nice carry gun for my wife who works in the heart of the city where there are nothing but drug addicts, dealers, bums, etc. Too long of a walk to her vehicle before and after work to not be carrying. She has police grade pepper spray now, but not sure that'll do much.
