Playboy gets fined £100,000 ($160,000) by the UK
A warning for all of us :2 cents:
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/...f-the-children GENTLEMEN'S PUBLISHER Playboy has fallen afoul of the UK communications watchdog Ofcom because it did not do enough to stop children from viewing pornographic material. Ofcom said that it has fined Playboy because two of its websites acted as gateways to hardcore content without having "acceptable controls" in place to ensure that users were of legal viewing age, 18 or over. "Ofcom concluded that Playboy's failure to protect children from potentially accessing these sites was serious, repeated and reckless," it said in a statement The two websites, Playboy TV and Demand Adult, did not ask for credit card information, said Ofcom, meaning that they breached UK rules governing the suitability of paid-for content. Playboy did ask for debit card information, but since these can be used by people under the age of 18, unlike credit cards, this was seen as not good enough. The homepage of Demand Adult displayed hardcore pornographic material that could be viewed by clicking on a button labelled "Enter I am over 18". In order to access additional paid for content, users could pay using a debit card. Neither of these controls constitutes an effective age verification system. "In order to access the website's hardcore pornographic material users could register using a debit card, which is not an effective age verification system," it said. The two channels share a fine of £100,000. |
It's a good thing children can't access adult tube sites without verification.
Oh, wait a minute.... |
Parents need to take responsibility for their kids. I hope Playboy fights this.
Just move everything to a controlled adult ghetto.. |
wtf? this is stupid.
they can't touch websites registered abroad that kids can access. |

The fear of having our kids kidnapped by some stranger who stalks them online should be much greater than than them watching something they'll be doing in a few years anyhow. Then again, there is no way you are going to stop boys from seeing naked chicks. |

A mandatory warning page and/or embedded adult filter code, would be much better than a mandatory ghetto extension.

Anyone who thinks tubes will stay as they are and able to be accessed by minors is deluded. This is just the 1st step of something that will take a good few years yet, but will ultimately stop tubes being operated from USA,UK, and 'friendly' nations of theirs.
Obviously things will then move to other countries who will say 'fuck you' to future laws, but you can bet your left bollock it's coming. And Ed Hammer - take responsibility? Are you kidding? Would you feel ok about your local newsagent having hardcore mags showing everything from double anal to gagging, bdsm, pegging, etc in full and easy reach of your children to just pick up and leaf through anytime they liked? I get the whole taking responsibility, and freedom of speech thing, but would you have your TV set capable of just being flicked over to channel xyz where hardcore porn is broadcast for anyone who wants to watch it, and argue that it's a parent's responsibilty to make sure their 12 year old is supervised each time they turn the TV on? |

On a side note almost anyone at playboy pulled out there bank card and all was fine.
|
You are also going to see an exodus of adult businesses out of the EU.
The days of the UK limited company or a Cyprus Corp on the foot of a website are over. |
