Which FTP Program

Hi
Any suggestions on a freeware FTP client I can get started with until I learn more about one. :helpme

Again where do I put my domain folder to use it in FTP?

Tittytweaker 01-17-2013 02:13 PM

Filezilla.

I've seen you create a few threads now that have some very basic questions in them. What exactly is it that you are trying to do?

This site will be very helpful for someone that is very new to website creation.

www dot w3schools dot com

Sholly 01-17-2013 02:41 PM

Hi Tittytweaker

It is definitely time to start with an FTP program and learn to use it. wanting to put downloads of content in a folder somewhere to download promo to.

Want to learn to do these things so I can get a domain and hosting.

Most sponsors turn down my sites on a free sub domain.

Apologize if my threads don't seem to be more professional.

Tittytweaker 01-17-2013 03:46 PM

No worries. It's not that they sound unprofessional per se, it's just that you appear to be very new to some of these basic concepts. Nothing wrong with being new, but you need to learn to walk before you run. Starting an adult website right out the gate with no experience isn't a great idea.

Sponsors definitely won't take free subdomains seriously, but you need to practice, practice, practice on those free subdomains before you switch over to a paid hosting plan. I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but messing with free hosting made it a little less overwhelming when I got my first paid hosting account.

I vote Filezilla also

Sholly 01-17-2013 04:06 PM

Ty webmasters

Searched and read some more, what I could find. Guess I'll download Filezilla, learn about it then move on. :thumbsup

Sholly 01-17-2013 04:08 PM

Ty Tittytweaker

For now I will only use sposors who will accept sub domains. :thumbsup

Another vote for filezilla.
I personaly use total commander because i like having computer and ftp browsing in one place, it isnt free, but you can try/use the shareware version.

bannel 01-20-2013 06:13 AM

I go with Core FTP, tried Filezille but not on my taste.

itx 01-20-2013 12:37 PM

FileZilla http://filezilla-project.org/

xshake 01-20-2013 01:24 PM

I have not heard of anyone better than Filezilla

JesseQuinn 01-20-2013 02:01 PM

@Sholly

I get that you want to try stuff out and learn as much as you can before you buy a domain and hosting, but from one relative newbie to another I think you're making things more difficult for yourself.

I was forced by circumstance to start my own site this summer and going in I didn't know ish about anything. Literally every single aspect of building and running my site was brand new to me. w3schools is an amazing resource, but your hosting cpanel will come with a 'start-up wizard' that walks you through things like setting up FTP as well.

Also, if you go with a hosting company that offers live support (like hostgator-no affiliate link, they're just amazing) they can offer tips if you set it up and end up making a mistake.

Practise is a good thing but sometimes you just have to go for it, kwim? Either way, good luck
(and +1 on Filezilla)

adultjobplace 01-21-2013 05:16 AM

coreftp is the best

Sholly 01-21-2013 07:39 AM

Ty everyone. :thumbsup

Rico_TZ 02-12-2013 07:48 PM

Filezilla always for the free option

AllAboutCams 02-12-2013 07:52 PM

i use filezilla

NaughtyObserver 02-12-2013 09:52 PM

+1 for filezilla. It is dreadful to look at though. I'd gladly use another program easier on the eyes if it was equally basic

Tent Pitcher 02-12-2013 11:54 PM

+1 FileZilla, and an additional option - WinSCP if you are primarily on windows and need SCP support.

adult-help 02-13-2013 12:17 AM

filezilla

Sholly 02-13-2013 10:07 AM

Thanks everyone for the referred FTP programs. Think when I'm ready will probably go with Filzilla.

:thumbsup

I was using coreftp, but now filezilla

Unskilled 02-28-2013 07:24 AM

I use FlashFXP (paid) and FTPRush (v1 paid v2 FREEWARE). Both are nice clients, nothing wrong with them.

GADA 02-28-2013 02:36 PM

CuteFTP -> www cuteftp com
or
FlashFXP -> www flashfxp com

I use them both from 10+ years and they work very good for me.

robber 03-12-2013 04:04 PM

Sholly 03-12-2013 05:56 PM

Thanks everyone.

toootooo 03-12-2013 10:18 PM

I use http://winscp.net - FTP/SFTP/SCP.
It is free.

hotbodybattles 03-13-2013 05:46 AM

i'll have to check out filezilla after reading this thread.. but I use fireftp as a firefox plugin for any ftp'ing needs .. that's nice and easy and pops up right inside the browser..

but I also use what's called WebDrive.. It basically maps a network drive on your computer to any FTP site you want. You just fill in the details and have it connect on boot up... it connects and the ftp site pops up as a drive in my computer. (obviously for windows).

It makes it really easy to just drag and drop files into directories on your website.. or edit files in notepad++ (my fav dev tool)..

MTCCash Tim 03-13-2013 12:56 PM

I had an issue with Filezilla transferring image files correctly. Switched to Core, no problems at all

TrafficRush 03-14-2013 01:07 PM

I use ipswitch wsftp pro
