I just read Fabien's post about OctopusCash (
https://gfy.com/showthread.php?t=1096494) and one part of the message got me irked:
"There will be no more payments. We are now out of business."
Yet as Homer Simpson pointed out

Which is true, if your company is "out of business", shouldn't your sites also all be shut down. As far as I can tell, their paysites are still running fine and operating business as usual.
So what about the the folks who have been promoting and pushing traffic to those paysites. What about those rebills? Those revenues that are owed? They are essentially telling their affiliates, thanks for the all your hardwork and guess what we are not going to pay you anything that you are owed.
Let me make this clear, I did not promote OctopusCash at any time so I have no horse in the race or no hidden agenda. I have long got out of the webmaster business, sold off my sites and I'm more in distribution now. But it just sickens me when I see Affiliates pull these shady bs on the people who promote them. Time and time again, we see it happen. Then a few months later, those same "people" will pop up with a new affiliate program and new sites.
I'm not just here picking on OtopusCash, although they are a shining example of shady since their paysites are still up and running. If you ran out of business, shouldn't your sites also be shut down??? It's just we have seen time and time again, the number of affiliates who screw the people who promote their shit and run away with money. More often than not, aside from ranting, webmasters don't do a thing to this shady affiliate prpgrams. Suing it out of the question because often it's too time consuming and the amount of money lost to these companies are simply not enough. And these companies know it, they are prey on that premise that you won't go after them and they will do it again and again.
So getting back to the original title regarding sitting on the sideline long enough, I thought I would devote my time, and resources to do something about it. I mentioned it briefly in the past and half jokingly but after today, I am seriously thinking about moving forward with this and help give these shady affiliate companies a taste of what it feels to feel fucked. Maybe they will care, maybe they won't. At the very least, it will give the webmasters who got scammed out of payouts some measure of revenge, small revenge but still revenge.
What is my plan? Here's where things get murky. And that's why I want to see your responses and see if you guys will support this or not. Ultimately, if I go ahead and do this, it will be to help our industry and the people in it. That's it. If you guys shoot down the idea, fine, no big deal.
On to the plan, so these "shady affiliate companies", they run paysites and they have content right? What if "someone" launched a tube site, and on this tube site, there is a user upload option. I'm sure you guys are starting to get a picture now :winkwink: And users upload the shady affiliate company's content on the tube site? I mean all of it, assuming the uploader chooses to upload it. The tube site owner, will ensure the server is located offshore, and utilizing DMCA protected facilities.
And if by mysterious circumstances, the shady affiliates send DMCA's to the site asking their content be removed, an email will be dispatched to them telling them that their content will be removed once they pay the affiliates they screwed over. Until then, they can GFY :1orglaugh
Would you guys on a whole support a tube site of this kind? Would you help promote it? Send traffic to it,etc...
And for companies who would be targeted, they would be blatant scammer affiliate programs. Not the late for one month to pay their affiliates, because as distasteful as it is not getting paid on time, shit happens and sometimes good affiliate programs are just late paying. But the companies specifically who will have their content featured on the tube site are the blatant real scammers who screw their affiliates.
Again, I have no horse in this race, no hidden agenda. Just sick and tired of seeing affiliates who work hard promoting these shady affiliate companies to put food on their table and get screwed at the end by these companies. It won't stop until we start doing something about it. Suing is not really an option, this is perhaps the next best thing to get some measure of revenge.
Whether you are Friends or Frienemies on this board, to quote 2pac "We might fight amongst each other, but I promise you this; we'll burn this bitch down get us pissed" :thumbsup
