3D Printers - Who has one?
Looking for suggestions on what to get. This is the next big thing.
|
My dad just saw Maker Bot at CES and ordered a Replicator 2. He could have bought one on the show floor, but now has to wait 2-3 months for delivery.
There are a few other models coming from other companies that look nice too. |
We're actively looking into this too for some non-adult and adult strategies.
On the adult side we already have a domain ready to roll out, 3dvibes.com :) |
Wonder if you can print a fleshlight?
|
Am hoping to get the formlabs one providing the legal case is resolved

It could print the outside part of a fleshlight. The inside is probably made of a silicone. I'm not really impressed by there quality yet. It's a great concept, but the parts are far from perfect. I can't see one of those machines being any more then a hobby at this time. (Maker Bot, Rep Rap ) Lower end machines. If you have an expensive machine the quality is unreal tho.

This is some super interesting shit.

Here are a bunch ranging from 400 to 2000. Think I might get the Buccaneer but have to wait till next year to receive it. Go to link below and search 3d printers.

why does this sound like a million dollar idea |
I just got one a few weeks ago. Makerbot Replicator 2x. It is the 2 head version. It allows to make parts in different colors or durometers.

These things aren't fast. We made a 2 tone part a few days ago about half the size of a cell phone and it took over 30 minutes. For prototype work or artsy things it's perfect. For production volumes it's not.

I want one to start a PVC figurine business.
I'd make the models myself in Zbrush. You guys know you need to get 3D data to print things, and not every 3D model is ready for 3d Printing, right? There are certain requirements for the mesh, and you'll either need to be able to model/fix things yourself, or hire someone to do it -- or buy the geometry files. |

The thing to remember is higher the resolution, the smoother the object.
Low res ones will produce very bumpy product. These things are great for big firms, hospitals, but for the general person, it will be somthing used 2 or 3 times then put away. Most people will not buy them. Its like robot arms, a fun toy, but how many people do you know who have one at home. |
One idea could be to use them to make porn dolls.
In japan they make these: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...tting-932.html http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/...75_634x356.jpg |

Your forgetting that its only the box and a few bits you can print. You would need to buy the electronics. Also you would need to buy the rubber sex toy parts. Plus you forget that to print out costs money. It could cost a lot of dollors to print somthing small. Next you would need to understand fancy softwear. Have you ever tried to use a 3d softwear thing? I have, its complex. In truth its somthing you nered to go to uni to learn. Do you thing some woman is going to order a 3d printer orjust buy a dildo from the shop or online. Many people do not even have a printer these days. Its not the cost, 3d printers could be $30 and theyt still will not be in every home. By the way a $500 3d printer is probably low res. In other words its serfice will not be smooth. Not ideal for a sex toy. If I was looking to make money from a 3d printer, it would be such as making custom car parts (such as wing mirrors) and selling them online or from a car components shop. You could do custom parts are ports no longer available. Mabe put one in a diy shop for customers to buy custom made items. But for sex toys, its just cheaper, quicker to buy them online. Also these things are basicaly lego plastic, not rubber or soft plastic one would want in a sex toy. Have you seen the cost of a sex toy? they are cheap. Also as I say where do you get the electrics from and batteries for the inside to make them work? Thats right, you have to buy them. So why would you make part of it and buy the rest seperatly when you can buy one in one go? Its just not going to happen. Still feel free to buy one and think your going to make money making custom dildoes for women. |
You sir, are a tool.
Do you even know the difference between a dildo and a vibrator? Here's a hint: 1 needs the extra components for the inside, the other doesn't. Stick to posting articles from the Daily Mail, that appears to be the only thing you may actually have a clue about. |
Things to remeber:
1. It will cost to print. The plastic powder (or whatever is used) will cost money. 2. It takes a long time to print anything. 3. Low cast printers (low res) will produce low quality products. Low detail. 4. The plastic is lego plastic. Its hard, not good for sex toys. 5. Only geeks will buy these machines for home use. 6. To design anything to print out will need be abel to use complex design softwear. Its not somthing you can do in five mins. |

You do understand that dildos are cheap to buy? What woman is going to order some home made dildo when she can buy (for probably less money) a high quality branded one from a known shop. I am sure its what women want is to buy home made sex toys from some fat bloke in his bhasment who has probably stuck it up his bottom before he posts it out. |
