Ok so here is a question. I am a modern guy who likes progress. I use only SKYPE for instant messaging. I came from ICQ, then MSN Messenger then onto SKYPE.

But I noticed that most people here and most programs like ICQ as a point of contact? I find this interesting? I have a theory that will get me into trouble.

Back in the day, when people started making fat stacks, there was ICQ. Everyone used this. Now its 2013 and those fat stacks have made fat cats, it's easier for them to stick to a network where they have all their contacts in one comms tool, makes no sense to move.

So is this the reason? Years and years of using one tool makes it easier to just keep on using?

I just installed ICQ (mac user) and plan on using this as well as skype. I guess this isnt a question, more of a observation. But would like to hear why this industry people use ICQ mostly?

Just get https://www.trillian.im/ and run them all from one interface.

I use ICQ for Adult. Skype for everything else *shrug*

I use icq, skype, and email. Makes no difference to me which program a contact prefers.

I have never tried ICQ, gtalk is good enough for me. But it's upto peoples' test to use messenger/chat services.

Cool. I am going with trillian, have a MAC and icq does not play nice :(

I still use ICQ cause I got a stack of 6 digit numbers beginning with 10xxxx and don't want them to go to waste :2 cents:

Email is still the best way to get a hold of me.

a lot of contacts of yesteryears, i think, i'm not ready to remove'em straight off

I use it because everyone else does (in the adult industry)

whatever happened to a phone? and talking?....smh.

-ICQ
-Gtalk
-Emails

Useful but very impersonal...

I only use ICQ for chatting to affiliates, skype for everything else! oh and "Whatsapp".

always wondered this myself... great thread

Skype guy myself. ICQ just seems so outdated
