Lol.

.

d-null 01-30-2013 12:33 AM

Cannibal Corpse is cool, I was always more of a Napalm Death fan though:

this song is so good:

Gator 01-30-2013 12:49 AM

My favorite is Six Feet Under.

digitaldivas 01-30-2013 12:55 AM

yeah, one of the things that I love the most about cannibal corpse, is that the guitar is just so fucking evil. It takes you to a dark place, immediately. Ahh, love it! The guitar work is just beautifully done. Fuck, they are so talented!

d-null 01-30-2013 01:04 AM

you wanna hear some fucking evil guitar, check out this:

digitaldivas 01-30-2013 01:05 AM

we need to fucking trade song links, D. Seems like we have identical tastes in music. That track is nice.

digitaldivas 01-30-2013 01:08 AM

I'm sure you've heard of Burzum. More black, but fucking SICK.

d-null 01-30-2013 01:14 AM

I remember getting this cd when it came out, one of the most evil sounding bands ever, these guys took it to another level of heavy:

groovy evil death metal at the beginning, then
the break going toward the :55 second point in the song followed by the Satan chants are iconic

the whole album is intense

(and yes on the black metal, I listen to black metal more)

digitaldivas 01-30-2013 01:16 AM

D, yes I venture to black too. I have a very specific taste for it. But there is just alot of really, really good music in that genre, fuck.

d-null 01-30-2013 01:19 AM

you've probably seen this, but this has got to be the most evil, well produced music video ever:

edit, replaced with link to better quality video

d-null 01-30-2013 01:30 AM

this song is definitely in my top 10 black metal songs of all time, the guitar progresses through the song winding a mood of musical storytelling, and Frost on the drums blast beating at an insane clip are unmatched, this song is a black metal masterpiece:

(get the album version for better production and full appreciation of the buildup in this song, this version is cool to see the live action though)

d-null 01-30-2013 01:32 AM

lol, this is cool, shows Frost drumming the above song (Filthgrinder, and then another song called Forhekset that rules too) in sound check:

seXXXhub 01-30-2013 02:57 AM

Check out Swallow The Sun - Cathedral Walls ft. Anette Olzon
on youtube ;)

oppoten 01-30-2013 03:00 AM

Sarcofago, Brazilian black/death metal. Singer Wagner Antichrist was one of the founders of Sepultura and is now an economics professor.

Here's something to cleanse the palate.

Okay, maybe not.

Saw this funny blog post about death metal and seemed appropriate from Paul Diamond Blow

In my own humble opinion, death metal is the worst, most horrible form of “music” that exists today. It’s even more horrible than gangsta rap! There is nothing musical about death metal—it’s basically just metallic riffs played way too fast or way too slow, with the way-too-busy kick drum, the totally annoying Zakk Wylde guitar squeals every five seconds (I blame Zakk Wylde for this), and worst of all—the “cookie monster” vocals that pretty much every single death metal bands use (I blame the Cookie Monster for this). I get it… death metal is supposed to be evil and scary sounding, and the vocals are supposed to sound like Satan himself is the lead vocalist. Yeah, that’s scary, man, but totally annoying. I must admit that listening to a typical death metal song by a typical death metal band can be highly entertaining—it always makes me crack up—but listening to more than one song just plain gets on my nerves, annoys the snot out of me, and puts me in a foul mood. Since all death metal bands pretty much sound the same (horrible), I invite you to insert your own “favorite” death metal band here at number two…

In my opinion, the best death metal album ever made.

so fucking evil. Too bad Morbid Angel really fell apart after this record.

surprisingly, Celtic Frost wrote me favorite death metal album of 2000-2010.

Monotheist is less of a death metal album, and more doom, but still, a really great metal album.

I tend to listen to more technical death metal, like Atheist and Obscura, since I spent most of my youth listening to prog rock like King Crimson and Mahavishnu Orchestra, I am a real sucker for straight up noodling and mad musicianship.

Gorgoroth is great!

their former frontman, Gaahl is one weird dude.

Vice followed him around and made a nice documentary about Gaahl, current Norwegian Black Metal, etc. You should check it out.

Ok, so I sleep when I can, and usually wake up at 3-4pm or so. D-null and I have been trading music on here for awhile. Although not regularly. From my "GFY Goth Night" posts to this... And D is part of the GFY night crew. Never see that guy during the day. So when I posted this late last night, it didn't dawn on me that the day crew >you guys would see this too, lol.

Nikki, if you can't play nice, GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY THREAD! I promote your stuff, would be a shame to have to drop your links...

Yeah, I am a day crew GFY'er, but I am glad I found this post!

Metal #1

I am more into doom/sludge myself, but still enjoy death/black metal immensely.

I cannot wait for Maryland Death Fest!

Cool, I fucking love Pig Destroyer, Melvins, Pentagram, etc. Doom/Sludge is a necessary evil, imho. :2 cents:

Yes. I couldn't stand Corpse after Chris Barnes left. I moved on to SFU at that point.

I saw these guys last weekend. They rip your head off live.

He burnt/burns the inverted cross into his head until it scars. Once the scar begins to fade, he does it again. Read an interview with him years ago in like Metal Maniacs or something where he described the process in detail, and what provoked him to do it in the first place.

Haven't listened to Deicide in years, but always loved how they mixed the groove metal with death metal. Their self titled album was great, as was Once Upon The Cross.

NaughtyVisions 01-31-2013 04:08 PM

Here let me throw this at you guys and see what you think.

Some of my metalhead friends in high school used to rip on me for listening to christian metal bands at the same time I listened to shit like Deicide. I still maintain that some of the christian death metals put out some of the heaviest shit I've heard. And for me, it was always about the music, not necessarily the message.

dropped9 01-31-2013 05:04 PM

My brother has opened for CC before check out his stuff

rayadp05 01-31-2013 06:29 PM

Fuck yeah. Been listening to Death Metal for over 25 years now.

Jayvis 01-31-2013 08:35 PM

Anyone listening to some of the newer acts out there on the metal scene (I guess maybe metalcore, I really don't follow all of the sub-genres, so I don't know what you'd call it)? Lots of good djent/progressive stuff coming out of Australia right now, from some rather young up and coming acts nonetheless. Seems like a lot of less theatrical looking dudes playing heavy stuff, I dunno, I like it. Bands like Northlane (beastly vocals from this kid), In Hearts Wake, and some nice instrumentals from bands like Pomegranate Tiger.

Here's another fav as of late (nice homage to CC with their band name):

Also, one of the more unique rock/metal vids I've seen of late:

digitaldivas 01-31-2013 09:37 PM

Fuck Yeah!! Thanks for all of the new finds. If any of you have any cannibal corpse similar bands, please let me know.

brassmonkey 01-31-2013 09:42 PM

we call it cookie monster rock

Furious_Male 01-31-2013 09:49 PM

I went to school with Alex from CC. He went from a clean cut kid one year to a death metal bassist the next. It was an interesting transformation. Happy for his success they have been going strong for a long time.
