School shootings and 911... We only care when a large group of humans get killed all at once.
Sadly, people only pay attention when a large group of people are killed in moments, rather than larger numbers of people being killed slowly over time.
Don't get me wrong, school shootings and the 911 incident was a terrible and horrible event, but because they are so sensational, they quickly get the public's eye... ex: we go to war when 911 happened, and we attempt to get congress to change gun laws when school kids get shot... But... that doesn't compare to 98,000 people PER YEAR dieing in hospitals due to simple human error or the 75,000 people that die each year from diabetes because we can't teach people how to eat in this country. If all the diabetics died all at once, 75,000 corpses on the streets in one day, the entire world would wake up and attempt to stop diabetes and the shitty food in this country. But, because it's stretched over a year, NOBODY GIVES A RATS ASS. Same thing for hospital deaths. But, shoot up a few kids in school and STOP THE PRESSES, we MUST curtail the sale of mega machine guns. Humans seem to want to do the right thing, but we move too slowly and simply can't figure it out. We are a very ignorant and childish race of animals that are too self absorbed by thinking "oh, everybody else is getting murdered by guns, but, it's not happening to me or my family, so I don't give a shit. Well, it's gonna happen to you or somebody you know one day, and then you will realize how small and meaningless your opinion and power to change things really is. But for now, keep watching TV and look from the sidelines as the other people get shot and murdered on an hourly basis. Yes, hourly. (actually, one gun murder every 50 minutes.) They have the weather channel, how about the "Murder Channel?" New exciting murders with round the clock daily coverage, that will bring in rating higher than the Kardashians. I'm all for assault gun ban, but it's a lame attempt to but a bandage on a deep bloody wound. IF and WHEN we decide that human life is important and we want to evolve as a species, we must ban ALL GUNS for public use. How hard is that? Sure, we'll let people "use" guns in controlled shooting and hunting ranges, but otherwise only professional police can use guns until all guns are no longer in existence. People should not have the right to take the law into their own hands. A gun does that. The power to take ones life should not be accessed by Joe Blow with $ 300 in a gun shop. If you are nervous about your government using guns and you can't, then VOTE for the right people that will protect you and the country you live in so you won't feel the need to own a gun. If you keep voting for murderers, than forever you will need to own a gun. Can you imagine a world where there are no guns, no need for guns? Wow. It might one day lead to no need for war. People don't go to war with other nations, only governments do. When can we take steps in that direction? I wish I could see it in m life time, but it's highly doubtful. Man is a hunter gatherer and seems he will never stop his instincts for collecting food, which is now "money, land, and power." I'm all for gun control, but this bullshit 'ban all assault weapons' isn't going to cure anything. As long as there are guns and people can take the law into their own hands, and we will NEVER evolve as a species. All you gun freaks have caveman mentality, (not your fault, you are only an un-evolved human) so if you're reading this, you simply won't understand. It's not 1776 anymore and you don't need a gun to protect yourself from the government. People that own guns are as evil as people that use guns. They are all machines designed to kill. Until we lose our instinct to kill each other, we will never evolve. All the animals on this planet have evolved to their highest level. They kill for FOOD and to survive. You don't see an alligator killing 30 other alligators because he had a bad day or didn't get enough love from mamma gator... Humans are on the very lowest level of evolution. We act like we are on top because we have an opposable thumbs and the ability to speak, so we've convinced ourselves we are noble and higher than the other animals, but we are the lowest of all animals because we don't kill to survive, we murder each other for money, land, possession and religion, which are all things that are man made. Humans are not a natural animal any longer, we are a self absorbed mutated animal that is ruining the planet and destroying our own chances of evolving into a normal healthy animal. Evolution will make us pay for our ignorance. If animals could, they would be laughing at us. It's to bad intelligence was wasted on humans. I'm ashamed and embarrassed being a human being. |

This is not true at all. We do care. Yesterday on the front page of both Yahoo news and CNN was an article about a fifteen year old girl who was shot dead in Chicago Tuesday - very sad. There was another article going around a woman who lost her son this past weekend, shot to death - her fourth child to die from being shot to death. It's not that we don't care about diabetics. My friend is a diabetic. He could change his lifestyle habits any time he wants but over the past twenty-five years hasn't bothered. We all had the same education in school; They taught us what to do eat. Some of us paid attention and some of us didn't. If being healthy isn't a top priority for you, you'll pay for it later. (I"m still kicking myself for smoking for twenty years.) The problem is when people kill people in bulk for no reason. We had a murder here in town last year, first one in tweny-five years, and it shocked us - but it's hardly going to be news four hundred miles away in LA. |

There are little girls and boys getting shot every day, that one girl in Chicago got the news coverage because of who she was. I think if the news reported every single murder each day, the entire country would wake up. The Diabetes I brought up as an example, I believe and know diabetes is a self inflicted illness, so if people want to eat shit and die, let them.

It makes me sick watching CNN and the reaction, and so far it's talk, talk and more talk. This nation just talks. No action, no growth. Just talk each issue to death, until people get bored and move on to the next "thing" to talk about. Sick of TALK.

People get killed in large numbers everyday. Just not in America. Maybe by American firepower but not on it's soil. You are speaking as an American obviously and yes most Americans don;t think about the wrath of death and destruction we cause elsewhere thanks to the largest paranoid schizophrenic sociopathic group of people on the face of the Earth located in Washington D.C...

Or is it that we get told that we care, as it's thrown in our faces and used for social engineering. Whereas if an event wasn't intended for social engineering the MSM won't give it much/any attention.
