NTM Nasa has said that every other planet in our solar system has warmed up like our own in the last 20 years due to the fact our sun was at a unusually state of high activity and is not predicted to start slowing down.

If we could just get the sun to stop driving SUV's and to pay taxes to the world government all of this would all go away....

I think there are a lot of things at play here.

The weather is changing all of the time no matter what. Even if we didn't exist and didn't cause pollution or make any changes, the weather would still change. On top of this, we are much better able to see what's going on.

Don't get me wrong, we should do everything we can to prevent global warming, but at the end of the day our weather is still going to change. We need to change our habits to deal with it.

One of the things that kills me is people who live in hurricane areas - their houses aren't able to handle this. I remember going to my Aunt's house in Belgium and she showed us how her condo was build - it was old, from the 1950s - but it had metal screens on her windows and doors in the event of a tornado or what not. Calling them "metal screens" doesn't properly describe them; They were more like metal walls. Then we have my cousin in Florida who lives in a double wide and looses everything she owns every four years.

Yup. I watched a very interesting programme on tv a few weeks ago talking about such things.

I think some people think the weather going back hundreds to thousands of years ago always stayed pretty much the same. In seasonal terms anyway. Which is absolute bullshit...

Yep, nothing wrong with trying to change away from destroying the planet.

hurricane andrew was supposed to teach florida a lesson. re-vamped building codes, better quality products, more government inspection....and homes in florida are still some of the worst in the country. oh they look pretty on the outside, but there is no structural integrity. foam columns, windows installed with four tap-cons and some silicone caulking, don't even get me started on roofing procedures. it's just terrible.

and yet there are still people that don't believe in global warming and its consequences

"Experts say this global warming is serious, and they are predicting now that by the year 2050, we will be out of party ice." --David Letterman
