"thousands of new Internet extensions due to be approved in 2013 and go live in 2014"
Read this a few days ago. You think there will be thousands?
I could see them introducing a bunch of new ones... but not thousands lol
yes there is so much need for more shitty extensions that hundreds simply would not suffice...thousands are called for...
.video, .news, .brandname, .etc
It's all coming. Congrats to those whose .xxx domains will be out there competing with .porn, .sex, .adult, .cum and all the rest... |
.go.fuck.yourself.
There haven't been applications for "thousands", so unless they open up another round of applications before they even approve the first round, no there won't be thousands. So many people misunderstand this process and a lot of those people are journalists unfortunately.
Tons of people will be burning more $$$..specially n00bs..
I'm having a hard time thinking of the last worthwhile site I visited that wasn't a .com.
So I guess this makes the whole .xxx argument a moot point?

As i've always said. .xxx was, is and will be 100% irrelevant.
gfy.gfy??
.freeporn:winkwink:
there will be hundreds, not thousands but still enough to confuse the consumer however i think these things will fail before the general public even really knows they exist. besides some cool ones like download.music or buy.homes the rest will be another .mobi, .asia, .tv, .biz, etc.
a few are surely going to be a hit.
but i can see a lot of companies are going to waste money on this |
this will make .com even more valuable
its pure business.
its to the point where you can remember the domain but cant remember the extension. used to be the other way around. there will be a few more years of weasels selling domains to suckers for much more than theyre worth. reminds me of the housing bubble
This .anything shit will be a thing of the past someday in most of our lifetimes.
As far as I'm concerned, though, motherfuck any tld but .com .com is how it should be It can't be .com forever, though. Not enough real estate. |
With the mesh between search and url fields on modern browsers the actual domain name is becoming less and less relevant.
I was watching this the other day while waiting at our local library, people on the computers there were just typing the name of the site into the url/search of the browser. |

its hard to predict the future. people just want to say or think "go fuck yourself forum" and instantly be there. they dont want to keep a rolodex of domain names |

I would think the assholes who conned us into .xxx would hate this news. :thumbsup |
They could do the inverse registration so everyone can register own extension:
Instead of sitename.com, do com.sitename. This way I register com.tubecamgirl , com.chatgf and all my domain names as an extension of com. domain. |
