Noisy neighbours
 

Any experiences with them ? And how did it end ? Or did it ever end ?


I think we have a situation building up here... :2 cents:

I called the police.

when that didn't change anything I called the owner of the building. He brow-beat the tenants like a angry dad. threatened to throw them out if it happened again. Haven't had a problem since. I have no issue calling to complain again either.

i used to live in a townhouse that had a bunch of college kids 2 units over, well we could hear the music in our unit even though we weren't right next door. it would go on all night till the early morning. i never said anything to them because i didn't really care much but if i had kids i would of spoke to them and if that didn't work, complain to the property management. you could always blast em back and see what happens.

See we generally get on well with all the neighbours, but it's at the point where enough is enough. The loud music and the slamming of doors every night is pissing us off.

My girlfriend doesn't want any trouble though. So it's a tricky situation...

I'm surprised my neighbors haven't complained. My home office here is right up against the outer wall, and I tend to rock out from time to time.

The people who live in the building next to mine are three chuds in their early twenties. Moved in, never introduced themselves and there a RIPPER of a party. they were pissing off the balcony into my yard and their downstairs neighbor's yard. She called the cops. After the cops left these shitsippers made it a point to turn the music up and yell and scream even more so. That's when I called the building owner.

We're a nice neigborhood. I know all the people that live on the street. We all do favors for one another like sweeping, raking leaves, shoveling snow, etc. No one has helped these assholes. Last time it snowed I dumped all the snow on my porch and sidewalk on their front steps.

Just speak up and ask them to tone it down. If it persists, go above their heads.

Mine finally got their home foreclosed on and had to move. Was a miserable 6 years living next to them.

The new owners next door are a retired couple, and nice & quiet.

Or if you just want to be an ass you can always resort to filling a big trash can full of water leaning up against their door, or spoof their number and call their landlord in the middle of the night every night saying crazy shit.

Actually just recently I went through this.

New neighbours and Christmas night they partied until 5am. No one at my place got any sleep.

Very simple fix, the next day, I walked next door, introduced myself, explained where I live and said that no one got any sleep and that I did not appreciate it and I guarantee none of the other neighbours liked it however they would likely not say anything..

He apologised, we had some bs chat and I left, no threats of any kind. Simply go and say hi I am xxx and this is my problem..

Since then, they have not partied past 11pm which they do quite frequently. However I can live with that, it is the 5am karaoke that pissed me off.

Since I moved into my apartment in Philly for the first few months, I was the asshole neighbor that threw wild parties that went all weekend long, had a ton of strangers over and raised more hell than you can imagine.

The guys that were in their 20s that lived next door told me they have never seen anyone rage as hard as the "old guys" in their 40's ( my crew ) ...

My trick: I invited them over to party their balls off with us. Their Girlfriends put an end to this after a few weeks and a LOAD of questionable behaviors. (Hookers, a serious amount of 420 smoke, booze, and other party favors) went down.

After a few months, a few moved out and the entire party stopped .. its quiet.

and now the only complaint I get is what happened to all the fun, lol .....

It's a bad road to go down when either confronting, or complaining about noisy neighbors. Generally the ones making noise won't be the nicest people to deal with -- otherwise they wouldn't be noisy fucks in the first place.

Not that you should back down from anything, but in my experience the noise is preferable to being in a war with assholes who live near you.

I told them to stop playing music at 3 AM, they did.

They told me to stop jumping around when I had a party, I did.

The end.

Hire someone to smack them around a little.

Tricky situation.

I partied HARD through my twenties. The party would start Friday night and go until late Sunday. Cops would start cruising by my place around 8PM Friday. Pissed off all of the neighbours all of the time.

Every once and awhile somebody would get the bright idea to come and confront us about the situation. I can tell you that it NEVER worked out for them the way they planned it.

Proceed with caution.

I would try the nice method first and ask them if they can keep the noise down, or send them a note under their door.

If that does not work have your lawyer write up something that if they don't comply you will take legal action and sue them for $200k.

If that does not work put crazy glue in their door locks, this way they cannot get in to make noise.

If it keeps up and don't want to use violence, it might be easier to just to move.

Sounds about right.

To presume that someone who would be that inconsiderate in the first place would give a flying fuck about disturbing the neighbors is a stretch.

Every now and then you might get lucky by saying something, but...

Whats the law there now.. they can pretty much make as much noise as they want until 11 nope?

You can file a noise complaint with the council, that way they wont know it was you, they'll just receive a letter saying a complaint has been made.

Should learn to spell when attempting to be a jackass.

Mate, need to have a quick word with you - dunno if you know, but the walls here aren't that great, so I can hear your music thumping right through, also now and then when doors slam that carries right through as well. It's like that background noise that goes right through you. Any chance you can move your speakers so they aren't as close to my wall, or turn it down a few notches? Set your speakers/volume and then give me a knock, then we can work out at what level it is where it starts thumping through instead of you having to sort of guess what's ok and what isn't.

Would definitely be my 1st point of action these days. In the old days it'd be waaay different, but would end up with me in an old bill motor. That's still a viable secondary option imo, but def try the nice approach first - most, though obviously not all, people are mortified that the behaviour/actions they genuinely thought was ok is actually not, and act accordingly. Depends what kind of building. Are they cheaper apartments? Probably wouldn't expect anything less.

had some idiot close by with a barking dog at 8 fucking am.... went straight to him and told him it bothers me, no more barking... now 6 months later another fucking idiot has his dog barking at 8-9am but I can't figure out which fucking house it is, another week and Ill be going to every fucking house on the block to see if it's their dog... but ya, go try talking to them for sure lol

and then start the classical music up at 8-9am.. aim the speakers right at them
