God damned idiots are always a fucking problem

I wanted to pick up a 32" LCD panel from a pawn shop and they ALL want $249 and up

Hell you can buy a 32" LED BRAND FUCKING NEW FOR THAT

But the god damned fucking mouth breathers seem to be paying that all day long for USED OLD LCDS

Which means I can't get a good or even reasonable deal on one because of how stupid normal people are

Just knock them all off into the ocean for the love of christ

William Somerset: [reading from one of John Doe's journals] On the subway today, a man came up to me to start a conversation. He made small talk, a lonely man talking about the weather and other things. I tried to be pleasant and accommodating, but my head hurt from his banality. I almost didn't notice it had happened, but I suddenly threw up all over him. He was not pleased, and I couldn't stop laughing.

Kelli58 02-09-2013 12:06 PM

I don't get that insult "mouth breathers". I heard someone on TV say that. What does that mean?

It means somebody's a fucking idiot/retard since most normal people breathe through their nose. It's a fucking awesome insult and always cracks me up.

I regularly see used things selling for more than the current new price... I don't get it either. You could make a living buying things new, and selling them "used" at a profit.

slapass 02-09-2013 01:04 PM

So what keeps you from buying a new one at the same price? Maybe you have the problem?

Colmike9 02-09-2013 01:09 PM

It's because prices keep falling when new TVs come out and the pawn shops are stuck trying to profit from money they 'loaned' for them when they were more valuable at the time..

seeandsee 02-09-2013 01:12 PM

It's from 230+ eur new lcd in my country 32"

Funny, I was thinking that the other day. One could almost go and buy flat panels at wall store and craigslist them for a profit. Un fucking believable.

I DON'T WANT TO PAY THE NEW PRICE WHICH IS WHY I'M LOOKING AT USED ONES
USED ONES SHOULD BE PRICED LOWER THAN NEW ONES :disgust

They're apparently moving them
The idiots on CL have them priced about the same and half of them reply back to me saying "um like it's sold, sorry"
OR
They have their shit listed for over two months and I tell them an offer saying new ones are selling for that and they get all insulted because they're too stupid to be alive

It means anyone with a deviated septum is doomed to pay full retail price at a pawn shop. :(

kane 02-09-2013 02:27 PM

This thread confuses me. I just went to Walmart.com and they have no fewer than 6 32 inch TVs for sale at $250 or less. Why not just buy one from them?

Penny24Seven 02-09-2013 03:02 PM

so people are stupid because you cannot find a good deal on a tv LOL ummm looks like you are the stupid one. Pawn shop in the last place I would buy a TV, that is where you take shit that is broken or fucked up, at least on craigs list you know where the person lives so if they wanna fuck you over they can worry about their house being set on fire haha as for the pawn shop your house is safe :) but yeah glad you think that is the problem with the USA haha
Time to go check the scores on my 60 inch flat screen that I got brand new for just over 800, oh yeah that was the price for two of them :)

You didn't mention how the bargaining went, so did you do any?

If not then that would be your biggest problem.

Apparently, a few of our fellow members here on GFY are just as stupid.

Sly 02-09-2013 03:40 PM

georgeyw 02-09-2013 04:10 PM

Never got the whole pawn shop thing. I have been in a few and everything looks like total shit and way over priced.

Ah, I see. so since you can get a new one for $250 he wants to get one at a pawn shop for like $75. Got it.

Kane! You usually make more sense. I'm looking at used ones because I don't want to spent the new price. I reasonably expect a used one to be priced lower than a new one. If it's not, everyone who's paying new prices for used shit is a moron.

I'm not the stupid one, ever, when someone says "LOL ummm" - not ever. Whether it's a CEO, a gypsy or a valley girl. I can not be the stupid one in that spot. You got two 60" flat panels for $800? Plasma? DLP? Even so, sounds like a good deal. If you got LCD or LED for that it's st**en and I wish I could have beaten you to them :1orglaugh

One of my lady friends in NY state had ten 50" LCDs a couple of years ago for $100 apiece because she didn't give a fuck what they sold for (bitch is loaded) .... I couldn't make it up there to get them before she sold them :(

A lot of "used" furniture stores do exactly that.

Isn't this the same place you seen selling Pentium 4 systems for $200? Not sure why you would you expect great deals on anything there. The only thing I've seen good deals on in a pawn shop is power tools, since they are most likely stolen from job sites anyway. Everything else is usually garbage.

livexxx 02-09-2013 06:13 PM

I don't know how things like that are possible.. I know it happens, but, wow. Maybe with some kind of rare this or hard to find that. Maybe a hot new automobile with a waiting list. But 3-4 year old televisions? Shit

L-Pink 02-09-2013 06:22 PM

Sell 17,000 shares of your penny stock and buy a new one.

Basically it's because pawn shops are assholes.. If the TVs were easy to sell at that price, they would have already sold it on Ebay in the back..

bl4h 02-09-2013 06:32 PM

$300 new for an lcd. probably looks like a lightbrite

MrMaxwell 02-09-2013 06:33 PM

To help everyone understand

1. I want a 32" flat panel LCD/LED

2. They cost $250-$300 new

3. I am looking for a used one (not a new one) because I DON'T WANT TO SPEND THAT MUCH

4. People who are looking for something used are doing so because they DO NOT WANT TO SPEND WHAT A NEW ONE COSTS

5. Advising me to go ahead and get a new one at the new price when I am looking for a used one to save money MAKES NO SENSE

6. It's REASONABLE FOR ME TO EXPECT THAT A USED ONE COULD COST LESS THAN A NEW ONE and the only reason it doesn't is because IGNORANT MORONS ARE PAYING RETAIL FOR USED MERCHANDISE

7. I hope that step by step guide chalked full of common sense blatantly obvious information similar to such facts as "the sky is blue" and "most women bleed sometimes" helped everyone to understand that SIMPLE FUCKING CONCEPT

8. As an aside- I'm beginning to suspect you all of being involved in whatever is causing used shit to sell for new prices, based on some of the posts you have made in response to this thread.. I secretly have to wonder if I should go and buy a truckload of televisions at retail from wall-store and post them for sale to you all right here on GFY.

That's funny, because it's true: 17,000 shares of most of these I've been looking at wouldn't pay for a 19" CRT television :1orglaugh

I'm pretty sure they're getting it... they wouldn't deal, at all.. no $10 off no $20 off
Or they're just stupid, but they can't all be, well.. who knows, these days

why dont you haggle with the guy then. tell him youd give him 175 bucks for it. watch pawn stars

livexxx 02-09-2013 07:18 PM

i normally tell the wife to guy out and buy shit on her card and then sort it out, sounds like you have too much time to waste for $50 IMHO

livexxx 02-09-2013 07:20 PM

I just bought a "Z" is dead keyring on ebay for $20 on a whim, was that bad when i could have made one myself with a hacksaw?

I negotiate everything with everyone I ever deal with.
These morons who have them on CL are insulted if you try to make an offer or explain that they're asking new prices. That makes me want to #*&%*&#%& them.

SilentKnight 02-09-2013 07:37 PM

With the way new TVs are manufactured these days, 3-4 yr. old sets are well past their prime already. They don't last like the old ones. We've replaced two flat screens that were both less than 2 yrs. old after the circuitry boards became fucked and the technician said they weren't fixable (one Akai and one RCA). He openly admitted a lot of manufacturers are making them more "disposable" these days - not stocking replacement parts.
