I laughed at top gear this evening.

Jeremy Clarkson rode a mustang and compared it to a ford escort (one of the most ugly and crappiest cars of the 90's): above 70 it shakes like a cardboard box taped on a big wheel.

American cars have a nice exterior (although the new mustang looks very outdated) but handling they are still a leaf springed T-Ford.

No.

The Model T had transverse leaf springs.

The Netherlands?

Let's talk about the DAF Daffodil, built by the Dutch company DAF.

That's funny. Young(er) Jeremy used to LOVE the old Ford Escort.

Thanks for the history lesson, SallyRand. I guess you should know since you are an old man posing to be a middle aged woman now and then. How is your clit today? Doesn't it itch extra bad with the boat-like suspension? I bet you always get car sick post-parking because those crappy landboats keep juggling you around for ten minutes after you've braked.

Those cars are so bizarre. The interior is terrible. I've seen a few of them and each time i look inside I think "Jesus, the interior is fucking hideous"

That said, American cars have mostly been complete shit for a good 4-5 decades. Thats why Toyota has dominated for so long in the US.

They fed him well and gave him an escort cosworth when it was new as a long-term test car and he loves anything ford ever since.

Lol don't watch Top Gear. They say what they paid to say, not whats true. Top Gear is nothing more than a commercial presented by dorks who only pretend to know what they're talking about.

But it's funny.

I don't know shit about cars, but over time I've driven Toyota, Peugeot, BMW, VW and when I was in LA I rented a 2012 Dodge Charger and fucking loved it. Much more than any of the others.

But being in EU now, if I had to pick, I'd go for a BMW again (though I own a Toyota and a Peugeot lol).

Most of my US friends I visited while there told me the Dodge was a crap car, but fuck me I still loved it. I do want to flee Europe one day so I guess I'm biased

he only tested the mustang shelby 500
although basically it's the same car, it's not comfortable for long drives, just looks nice and powerful on a straight line

i agree about the spyker. Also the lines look sexy of the car but the little details are too much. Like the knobs on the hood etc., it's all a bit too excessive.

used to live a few miles away from the guy who designed the first spyker, he made the prototype in his shed. Sometimes he took it for a test run, i remember standing outside and this car drove by, i thought what the hell is that! Beautiful sound and looks, the chassis was bare metal, without all the little details. Looked very aggressive.

top gear is an entertainment show, it's not an informative show. i thought that was obvious by now with clarkson's whine bag/bully schtick. it's still very funny but it's british humor, they hypocritically poke at americans. cheeky.

those *contests* are fully rigged, do you really think the camera was in the right place at the right time in the middle of a race from england to where the fuck ever using buses, trains, walking, cars, tunnels, etc? of course not.

it's a fully scripted sitcom.

also, look to the corvette to see what a leaf sprung car can accomplish.

Ok so good enough for getting around in LA, thanks

They've always said that European cars have better handling.

your top gear tv overlords found where the nile originates this week.

impressive, 1 week they find a vibration in a car that's sold 10s of thousands of units in 2012 alone, with no 70mph vibration issue and follow that up with finding the beginning of the nile!

these guys are einsteins!!
