Has the industry moved on from ICQ to skype?
 

ICQ is such a headache now adays

has everyone pretty much switched over to skype??

I know i rather talk on skype than icq

I prefer TrillianPro, so I can have cloud history and spellcheck, so don't care if its Skype or ICQ you are hitting me up from. :pimp

I use skype more for personal use then business. I only use icq for adult contancts. I prefer email for business for the time stamp trail. To many times people tell you they dont remember conversations etc.... if its in an email. They will never tell you that...I've learned the hard way.

Nope, most of my contacts are on ICQ, I do not use skype and never had an issue (that somebody is only on skype and not on icq).

Ps: this poll would give you wrong idea, many people like skype more, but (for adult biz) they use icq more.

using both but would certainly prefer to get rid of icq

I can count on one hand the number of industry connections I have on Skype.

I talk to about 30-40 people on average each day, I'd say 70% of them are on Skype these days versus ICQ.

Trillian is always improving. It's also simple to install, updates in seconds whenever there is an update. Just go for it IMHO.

Still use both. Most contacts are on ICQ. Though i wish most were on Skype instead. I'm seeing a change in that direction though so it's only a matter of time. I hope...

I've never had any problems with ICQ. Fire it up, works fine. I wasn't too keen on Skype at first, although mostly because I was afraid people was going to try to video chat with me all the time. That's great if you are cute and have perky breasts, but I don't want to see LAJ's ugly mugg every day on my screen.

However, so few people use ICQ these days that I am considering ditching ICQ completely.

It looks like Rochard is in the wrong industry :) Unless you are talking about people in general, in that case yes, people who are not in adult industry usually do not use icq.

I cannot stand icq. We have our adult biz and mainstream. Everyone in mainstream is using skype. I wish adult would follow.

I like tabbed chats in ICQ, can't do that with Skype.

i'd say opposite for me except its 95-5% for icq ;)

i should add i use trillian to work with both.

Until Skype allows integration to systems like Pidgin, Trillian and Adium, not many people will use it.

Skipe works like crap. Sometimes offline messages arrive to you 1 day later.

I never had a problem with ICQ,it's quick and works great for me

Lul wot trilian supports skype for a while.

I currently use icq and skype on trilian but more preffer skype as icq sometime can fail on delivering messages.Also when it comes to industry skype is used more by professionals like billing people and similar services while affiliates still mostly on icq.

I have only Skype now in my email signature and every time that someone hits me up on ICQ I always ask them if they use Skype, that way I can transfer them to Skype and finally ditch ICQ sometime soon.

IIRC Skype only integrates into such services if Skype is installed and running at the same time... If you have to do that, there's no reason to use it in Trillian/Pidgin/Adium.

ICQ is a great filter. I can log off when I don't feel like dealing with random people, while still doing all my day to day business on Skype.

ICQ mostly but there is a slow migration to skype I've noticed.
Use to be North America = ICQ and UK/other = skype.

This is not true. I was very suprised to see the other day that my wifes uncle, who is an older man in his 60's uses ICQ for business. He does a lot of international and from what he tells me a lot of people internationally use icq more then in the US. He sells computer hardware to asia/russia/europe

I stopped using ICQ quite a while ago.

Skype only.

That's how it was with me and MSN. Only people I had to talk to and wouldn't waste my time had MSN and I rarely logged into ICQ. Now that MSN is Skype I'm sitting open to everyone. So far so good.

I haven't fully stopped using ICQ because some haven't moved yet..

No it haven't. Both services sucks. I use Jabber only.

90% Skype, 5% ICQ, 5% MSN. The first year was around 80% MSN. But only german contacts. I think this is nearly completely down.

I use both, and on SKYPE i have 25 contacts and on ICQ 1039 :)
And i prefer ICQ:)

I am on skype and email daily. I open icq maybe twice a month.

I have not added somebody to icq in many years. For new contacts its skype or email.

I'm not sure why this is such a badge of honor. Use the communication method that you need to in order to talk to the person that you need to.

Some people only e-mail.

Some people only Skype.

Some people only ICQ.

Some people only telephone.

For that reason, I do them all.
