Liberals are going crazy on gun control

Never mind Obama gave guns to Mexico's drug cartel that they want to take away from Legal Gun Owners in the US, check this shit out!!!

Mexico to ask US for list of gun owners

http://communities.washingtontimes.c...istry-us-guns/

Washington state wants to ban sales assault weapons.

To show how little people that are against guns know about them, it's a Magazine, not a clip page 3, line 9

They are pretty broad about what an assault weapon is, even a 9mm pistol with a 15 round clip is an assault weapon?

http://apps.leg.wa.gov/documents/bil...Bills/5737.pdf

then finally there is this idiot that thinks we should wait till they go to reload and then attack the shooters with ballpoint pens?

keep our guns to protect us from these idiots

if the entire country sells weapons to the planet.. why in the world are you talking about gun regulation?

I'm a Dem.

I voted for Obama.

I have a small arsenal at home (e.g., an FN SCAR-L, FN 5.7, Walther PPS, Ed Brown Kobra Carry 1911...you get the picture). I can't let all the right wingers have all the fun.

I'm not a "one issue" voter like many people. At the end of the day, the Dems don't have enough clout in the legislature or in the federal courts to do a whole lot IMHO. An AWB will likely get filibustered. The real issue is the state legislatures, but then the Supreme Court will eventually get involved, and it still leans right.

The bigger concern is, frankly, the private sector. Price gouging is completely insane. You can't find ammo anywhere, and when you do find it, it is priced at obscene levels. I stopped by Walmart a few days ago and they didn't have any .223, .308, .45 or 9mm ammo. It is just crazy. I bought my SCAR for $2,200 a few years ago. You can't find it for less than $5K now. Stores are selling crappy AR-15s for $2K+. People are panicking.

But the paranoia has its benefits. I bought Ruger after Obama was elected. Up 10% and they issued a HUGE dividend (9% or so). :thumbsup

The gun walking thing is 2006-2011 and never went as high as Bush or Obama.

"In January, the Mexico Permanent Commission reportedly voted to formally ask the United States Senate for a registry of all commercialized firearms in the border states of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas." From the opinion section so who knows if their "reportedly" holds water.

Gotta love slanted and fake news.

You commented like we were the only country making guns, Canada makes plenty.

Samuel Colt was an american, but it's making guns in Canada too!

It's not about hunting or target shooting. It's mainly about keeping the government on its toes, keeping the government just a wee bit apprehensive about imposing too much tyranny on its citizens.

Current polling data of NRA members in terms of some the gun control initiatives being proposed. Long and short, even rank and file NRA members strongly support basic gun control like background checks. And last I checked, the NRA wasn't exactly a hotbed of liberalism:1orglaugh
  • 1. Requiring criminal background checks on gun owners and gun shop employees. 82 percent of all gun owners and 74 percent of NRA gun owners support the former, and 80 percent and 79 percent, respectively, endorse the latter.
  • 2. Prohibiting terrorist watch list members from acquiring guns. Support ranges from 80 percent among non-NRA gun-owners to 71 percent among NRA members.
  • 3. Mandating that gun-owners tell the police when their gun is stolen. 71 percent non-NRA gun-owners support this measure, as do 64 percent of NRA members.
  • 4. Concealed carry permits should only be restricted to individuals who have completed a safety training course and are 21 and older. 84 percent of non-NRA and 74 percent of NRA member gun-owners support the safety training restriction, and the numbers are 74 percent and 63 percent for the age restriction.
  • 5.Concealed carry permits shouldn?t be given to perpetrators of violent misdemeanors or individuals arrested for domestic violence. The NRA/non-NRA gun-owner split on these issues is 81 percent and 75 percent in favor of the violent misdemeanors provision and 78 percent/68 percent in favor of the domestic violence restriction.
The poll, which sampled 945 gun owners around the country and had a margin of error of +/- 3, also found broad support gun-owners for the principle that ?support for 2nd Amendment rights goes hand-in-hand with keeping illegal guns out of the hands of criminals.? In fact, more NRA members (87 percent) supported the statement than non-NRA members (83 percent).

imo, NRA leadership doesn't care because they're in the bag for the gun manufacturers. Gotta keep sellin' guns, gotta keep gettin' paid.

This is pretty much the way I see it. The fed govt won't be able to ban guns as it will never make it through congress or the senate. It's the states that will do anything as far as banning goes, but most of that will get over turned as unconstitutional.

It's just like when the Right tries to push religion in schools or anti gay policies. It always gets over turned.

Meanwhile you have right wing retards running around with their hair on fire trying to buy everything that isn't bolted down at the gun shows & stores. These morons have likely maxed out their credit cards buying everything they can get their hands on.

All I'd like to see is better background checks and perhaps requiring a license to buy assault rifles. Essentially making it tougher for criminals to just walk into a store and buy a gun and giving them much stronger prison sentences if a gun is used in a crime.

Obama laid out his plan on guns.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-0...very-plan.html

“This is not just a gun issue,” Obama said on Feb. 15, when he returned to Chicago to promote his agenda. “It’s also an issue of the kinds of communities that we’re building.”

This is a translation of what they want - "PRI Senator Marcela Guerra presented the proposal, which aims at the time that these weapons are used in a violent act, you can know precisely the name of the person who originally purchased the armory."

It seems if a firearm was legally bought in the US and used in a crime in Mexico that we could help trace the ownership of that gun. Fuck, I thought we did that now. Why wouldn't we do this?

brassmonkey 02-20-2013 04:48 PM

Joe Obenberger 02-20-2013 04:58 PM

Yeah, well, the history of Mexico rarely shows any indication of much respect for individual rights.

Generations of immigrants coming into New York harbor were greeted with a beacon here that personified the spirit of Liberty - and that tells the tale.

We don't maintain any federal registry of gun owners at large. When plans for that emerge, it will seriously undercut the principle behind the Second Amendment - that a well-armed body of citizens keeps the government on its toes and acts to prevent tyanny.

Delighted to report that last weekend, another lawyer and I held a meeting to establish The Second Amendment Lawyer's Association. We hope to work aggressively to defend gun rights.

No one said a 9mm pistol is an assault rifle. The article seems to be about assault rifles, handguns, antique rifles.... However, a 9mm pistol with 15 round clip is a bit of over kill for self defense, isn't it? At a certain point you can argue that a firearm is no longer about self defense, and is more of an assault weapon.

Amazing how you turn everything into Obama's fault.

Not everything

Race card, seriously?

And? Wouldn't be the first time.

I have three assault rifles here in my house. WTF? The same exact weapon I trained with for four years in the US Marines. This cracks me the fuck up. Anyone can own an assault rifle. That's funny already.

I grew up calling it a clip. Now that I think about it, even in the Marines we called it a clip.

Wikipedia says: The detachable magazine is often controversially referred to as a clip or mag.

You call it tomato, I call it tamoto.

Your point?

I'm sorry, when you say clip, you mean magazine, RIGHT?

No one said a 9mm pistol is an assault rifle. The article seems to be about assault rifles, handguns, antique rifles.... However, a 9mm pistol with 15 round clip is a bit of over kill for self defense, isn't it? At a certain point you can argue that a firearm is no longer about self defense, and is more of an assault weapon.

People scare the fuck out of me. The main road outside of my house is shut down for repairs, and while out on my run this morning I saw a thirty year old man who not only blew right through the stop sign, but slide right into a temporary barrier.

You want to be saved by "these idiots" and then.... Turn around and arm the idiots who can't see the road closed signs, the stop sign, OR FORTY FEET OF WHITE AND ORANGE BARRIERS?
These idiots want people to attack people with guns using ink pens, what do you call them?

You've never dealt with the law much, by calling it two different things in the bill, makes it's a problem, they have to be referred to as the same thing
