Can someone explain to me why Canadians care so much about United States?
I am neither and can give 2 shits about either country. I find it very humorous that many canadians here make posts about USA politics. Why do canadians care so much about the USA ?

It's really cold this time of year and American politics are more exciting.

its like here, new zealanders are obsessed with australia yet we in australia could not care less about them in fact im not even sure how to spell their country.
Its little man vs big man syndrome. Trying to be all like im so important and junk. But you are not really. That is all.. |
I was in the Army in the 90's in the 10th Mountain Division (Ft Drum, NY) and was dating a Canadian girl, which meant that I spent almost every weekend in Kingston, Ontario and Ottawa. I got to know the girl's family, her friends, met lots of people... had fun going to clubs and trying Canadian things like poutine, which is still one of my favorites.
Seems like all of the Canadians I met back then were always really nice. I know a few Canadian webmasters that are top AFF affiliates and they are really nice. I've met some quirky Canadian snowbirds in Las Vegas and Phoenix... some of them make me shake my head... but old people are like that. It's just a few select ones on here that are a little annoying. I've put a couple of them on ignore, but a few I like to read what they say because you can usually predict what it's going to be and I find it amusing. I'm sure I have more Americans on ignore than anyone though. People are people, you get all kinds from all different places. |
Cause there all lazy asses with no jobs and have nothing better to do then to sit around drink beer and get high wishing they had things like American's do.

You gotta be dumb not to understand it. The vast majority of Canadians live closer to a major American city that to the next major Canadian city. Even before cable Canadians got TV through the major American TV networks and the same with radio. With the United States being a world superpower politically and culturally what do you think a Canadian is going to do - watch a crappy Canadian TV series or one of many great American series? Same with movies and music. Hockey is pretty much Canadian culture with a small number of musicians, writers, artists etc who most Canadians would know or care about. Politics - US politics matter, especially when the vast majority of your population can literally walk or is a short drive to the US border. What happens in US politics affects Canada more than any other country.
And if you haven't noticed, the US is becoming more like Canada not the other way around. For better or worse. |

Not one person here hasn't slowly driven past a big wreck and wondered out loud what the fuck happened there.

The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq formed a "Coalition" and American politics decided that those wars were going to happen. Everybody in the coalition was sure interested in what was happening and for good reason! |
Well, let's see...
- Most of you are nice - You are our closest neighbour - You are our #1 trade partner - You are fun to drink with - We pretty much share the same cultures - We look alike (but we're better looking) And for me personally, it's not that I care what you do so much, unless its something that I think will ruin what a cool country you have. (Mitt, Newt, Sarah, Ron, Glenn, Rush, John, etc..) |
Why does Donnie care so much about Canadians?

Canada is our front line of defense in case of an attack over the poles so they actually have a vested interest in U.S. politics.
Canada takes care of our Northern border for us and we take care of the rest of the world for them :thumbsup . |
