How much does a android app make from free ads?

hey, i was curious if someone would know how much a free android app would make from banners only.

Lets say the app gets downloaded 10million times and people use it about once per week for 5 minutes....

how much ad revenue would come in?

Markul 02-21-2013 05:56 AM

Good question, I would like to know too.

Let's say 50% active users, that is 5 million, and using 1 time per week, maybe 3 ad loads for example, that is 15 mil. ad loads per week or 60million ad loads per month.

Let say just for example he earns 0,25$ per 1k impressions, that is 250$ per 1 million impressions or 15k$ earnings per month :) but this is just my fucking calculation...

Nice calculation...

i found this on ad eCPM :

AdMob ? $1.00 eCPM, almost unlimited inventory
InMobi ? $1.00 eCPM, large inventory (especially international)
Millennial Media ? $1.25 eCPM, large inventory (mostly US)
Madvertise ? $6.00 eCPM, small inventory
Leadbolt ? $3.5 eCPM, moderate inventory
revmob ? $6.50 eCPM, small inventory, interstitial ads only
Mobfox ? $6.00 eCPM, very small inventory

its more then you think.

We do, but we haven't done any that's ad based yet.

I am wireframing one right now though, so in X time when it's built, launched and has a million users I will share the data haha

I read an article that was posted on Reddit a few days ago about a class in 2008 from Stanford Uni. The class's teacher gave the students an assignment to build a phone app and get people to use it.

Long story short, about a dozen of the students ended up quitting school to continue on with their new business because they were doing so well.

They were all free apps with just add revenue.

edit.. this is the article. Guess it was 2007 not 08.
