Hulu promoting piracy

I'm watching a 25 year old program and they have THREE MINUTE commercials on here.
There's no way they're going to be around a long time if they want to take us back to the forties.

Help put an end to piracy, do something about fifty thousand minute commercials on fucking nine hundred year old programs, for fuck sakes.

Sly 02-24-2013 08:49 AM

Easy solution. Spend nine dollars a month for Hulu Plus.

You should have watched it 25 years ago then.

No it's not
Hulu is the kidnapper who already raped my old programs

Mark67 02-25-2013 04:47 AM

Is Hulu any good?

What the fuck does commercials during a TV program, even if it is an old TV program, have anything to do with piracy? Every show in syndication, no matter how old, gets new commercials put in it from the network rebroadcasting it.

uniquemkt 02-25-2013 04:26 PM

Hulu is like the anti-Netflix. I'm happy to pay Netflix my 8/month when in exchange I can watch all the crap I want, commercial free, on my TV, phone, and tablet. Plus they are now creating content you'd actually want to watch (on episode 7 of House of Cards, looking forward to Arrested Development.)

I tried Hulu Plus and cancelled my free trial on the first day. They have 6 commercials total, and they play 4 of them at a time, every 8 minutes.

i tried Amazon Prime, about all they had for "free" was old episodes of One Day At A Time.

Hulu's claim to fame is that they have Glee, but I get my daily dose of homo from GFY.

You're being deliberately obtuse.
If whoever has the rights to the program hostage would put a reasonable amount of commercials on it, it'd be less likely to be pirated and widely distributed. See.

Huly promotes piracy and should be sued.

Hulu + is good when there are new things to watch. Lately it's been pretty boring.

Or, how about they're trying to make as much money back from advertising rights as they can to cover the licensing of these shows, and turn a profit so they can charge only 9 bucks a month for hulu plus? It's the extremely long standing business model of television and syndication. You sound like a conspiracy theorist wackjob. :2 cents:

From a viewer's perspective, the economics don't matter, never have mattered, and never will matter. The viewer is there for the content, and ads will always detract from the experience of watching the content. If the ads are unreasonable, viewers will look elsewhere for the content or find something else to do with their time.

SmutHammer 02-26-2013 11:03 AM

There is usually only one 30 second commercial at a time.

I agree with that, but to say that Hulu is intentionally running extra long commercial segments to push viewers to file sharing sites, etc. is just crazy.

It's a business model from the 1940s
Back in the seventies you had to listen to a blaring three minute long advertisement
These days you don't

Trying to make someone watch TWO HUNDRED SECONDS of ads on a TWENTY FIVE YEAR OLD PROGRAM is stealing and they should be in jail.

MrMaxwell 02-27-2013 02:06 AM

There must be some way to stop these clowns
I wonder if the advertisers realize how hated they are after someone sits through their ad for the 500th time

I just saw twelve minutes of commercials on my program
Someone should be locked up for that

Are you seeing these commercials on a free show or is this a paid service?

If it is paid, I would be pissed too, but if it is free, well, it is free. They have to pay for it somehow. You always have the freedom to choose not to watch it.

I did
I'm not watching it anymore
