Christoph Waltz's acceptance speech was humble and awesome! I especially like what he said at the end about Tarantino.

And, of course, he deserved the award because his performance in the movie was exceptional!

L-Pink 02-24-2013 07:31 PM

Watching it for the first time in years only because Seth MacFarlane is hosting.

in case you missed it

Here's how MacFarlane introduced "Django Unchained": "This is the story of a man fighting to get back his woman, who's been subjected to unthinkable violence. Or as Chris Brown and Rihanna call it, a date movie."

I like the Poo Academy :1orglaugh

NaughtyVisions 02-24-2013 07:40 PM

I don't give a shit.

Most of the time, the awards are given to the same shithole movies/actors/directors, with the Academy fellating the big studios. Rarely is true creative (and independent) cinema awarded.

I love movies, and have or will watch most of the movies getting awards tonight. And I'm a fan of Seth MacFarlane. But I don't really care to watch the Hollywood clique circle jerk each other.

Edit: And any of the good jokes, people will either be talking about (i.e. posting here minutes after they occur) or bitching about, so there will be links to video clips all over the place.

AdultPornMasta 02-24-2013 07:41 PM

Actually haven't watched it in years.

Not sure why not though.

:2 cents:

lucas131 02-24-2013 07:42 PM

nobody will blast is as always

L-Pink 02-24-2013 07:48 PM

I've only walked out of 1 movie in my life and it was an Academy Winner for Best Picture.

Which one? Moulin Rouge?

Diomed 02-24-2013 08:17 PM

Waltz was very average in django, they are giving him the award because he was incredible in Inglorious Bastards.

MaDalton 02-24-2013 08:20 PM

way too much of this "Les Miserables" crap - this is the Oscars and not the Tony awards

What?? You saw Django and didn't think Waltz was excellent?

Diomed 02-24-2013 08:40 PM

That's right,

I thought he was excellent in I.B. but rather average in Django.

RyuLion 02-24-2013 08:47 PM

Nope.........

:winkwink:

Opps, sorry, Chariots of Fire.

Aged myself there didn't I?

.

SilentKnight 02-24-2013 09:11 PM

They've made Les Miserables more than a dozen times.

Next year it'll be a slasher flick (throw in a few vampires to hook the tweens).

sandman! 02-24-2013 09:11 PM

not watching it here

I watched the first have then tivo'ed the rest to watch tomorrow. Seth McFarlane seemed to be doing a good job, and his jokes were pretty funny. I prefer his humor over most others and I love crude jokes, but I think the best host of the Oscars was Billy Crystal.

buzzard 02-24-2013 10:52 PM

Who in the Fuck would watch that social engineering crap?

bronco67 02-24-2013 11:12 PM

Am I the only one who thinks Naomi Watts' toenail could out-act Jennifer Lawrence?

Watts should just be in a Harvey Weinstein movie so he can buy her an Oscar.

Matt 26z 02-24-2013 11:22 PM

Seth MacFarlane stunk it up.

Shirley Bassey was the highlight of the night. That old diva refused to share the stage with Adele for a duet and then stated "I'll be wearing my own jewels, I'm not borrowing them. I own them."

Michelle Obama presenting Best Picture was Hollywood trolling the right.

76 years old and still belting it out... But I think she had a rough start and was nervous for her.

John-ACWM 02-25-2013 06:35 AM

Damn, forgot about it! :( I used to watch it live.

2MuchMark 02-25-2013 06:48 AM

What kills me about the awards now is that they have pushed the technical awards to their own night, which is not broadcast until months later. Sure its nice to see the actors get their trophies, but I pay attention about a dozen technical properties of of any film and think the artists, engineers and programmers behind them shared the stage with the on-camera artists instead of being pushed to the side as nerds.

It sucked to watch the winner for VFX get played off when he wanted to talk about Rythym and Hues going bankrupt. It's pretty ironic that the company who brought the Life of Pi tiger to life(and won an Oscar) will be going out of business because Hollywood VFX are getting outsourced to countries who pay their workers nothing -- and a lot of the time use pirated software.

Best-In-BC 02-25-2013 08:56 AM

After fucking Drake won at the gammy's, ive come to the conclusion that these awards mean shit

they really do mean shit...why doesn't the best picture award go to the winner of best director? That makes no sense to me.
