So now that Youtube has commercials in every video..who is getting paid?

For the stolen videos that are up there...that they play ads on...who gets that money ?:)

YouTube is like every other tube. They will allow ANY video uploaded so long as it is not in their database as restricted ownership, until they receive a DMCA notice or a reported link. In FACT! They set the bar for all other tubes! Surely you DO remember this, you are not a newb.

Also, they have FINALLY found a way to monetize the site, it's only fair they make up for the lost billions.

Who fucking cares nothing will happen

seeandsee 02-27-2013 09:33 AM

youtube is biggest mainstream "user uploaded" tube :)

Youtube is the one getting paid. Their payouts to content providers are miniscule compared to revenues generated.

The question is if we can disable these ads or not - they are annoying!

pamon 02-28-2013 01:25 AM

tons of uploaded content = plenty of ad dollars. get enough views and clicks on you can make $$.

PeR930 02-28-2013 04:25 AM

Adblock works

2MuchMark 02-28-2013 06:47 AM

If the video uses stolen music or is matched to video content in their copyright holders database, the video is often automatically monetized for the benefit of the copyright holder while the uploader can dispute the claim in the meantime.

I've seen this abused heavily. Some of the YouTubers I follow have had bogus copyright claims made against their video while it's racking-up views (and ad money), most win back ownership, but it's never easy and they tend to miss out on revenue because of it.

All-in-all YouTube's still a pretty good place for a content producer to earn a living.

If I make a decent video on youtube, other people download it and then upload it
to their own youtube channel.

I just stumbled across another one last night that had been up for 3 years and it
was monetized and had 50 times more views than mine.

:disgust

if you re-upload a music video and it doesnt get pulled and ads are put up on it the artist/copywrite holder can claim the video and put their own ads on it and put the "buy on itunes" at the bottom

Affiliates send me more traffic from youtube vids than from porn tube vids.

how is the traffic doing these days?

alex.missyouth 02-28-2013 10:40 AM

Youtube gets the money obviously, but there are too many ads on the vids already IMHO, and that's exactly what's preventing me to watch vids on youtube.
