Kapxxx 02-28-2013 07:52 AM

Why would you buy if you had it already working?

Chris 02-28-2013 07:53 AM

OldJeff 02-28-2013 07:56 AM

DamianJ 02-28-2013 07:57 AM

Oh Fris, could you drop me an email, got a tiny problem with one of the WP themes I bought from you and wondered if I can pay you to fix it.

Thanks!

Here's a question that has boggled my mind for years :

Why do people pirate Adobe Flash instead of buying this program :

http://koolmoves.com

There are things that Adobe Flash does better; like drawing tools/sound embedding etc...)

But for most people, koolmoves is going to do everything they need and more.

bronco67 02-28-2013 08:08 AM

It hurt to pay $3800 for Softimage -- but I also sleep better knowing my business is legit.

This is the only software I have which is not freeware and hasn't purchased *blushing face*

P.S. In general I don't support "the spirit of piracy" and used to pay for everything which is not free.

MPGdevil 02-28-2013 08:22 AM

Windows, but have bought it since XP.

A lot of games when I was young, but now I always buy them.

bronco67 02-28-2013 08:25 AM

I think most people have done their fair share of piracy, especially in the early broadband wild west days -- including me.

But eventually you need to grow the fuck up and quit ripping people off just because you can.

JamesM 02-28-2013 08:31 AM

photoshop.
when first i wanted to try it, noticed i had already installed it and the trial period had expired , so installed pirated version to try, then bought it, back in days

Nero_Brass 02-28-2013 08:34 AM

Art Rage 3
Synergy (donated)
Windows XP

Most games I eventually buy if I really liked them. Especially after they drop in price after a year.

Flash is the industry standard for all web animation that can't yet be fully handled with HTML5 & jQuery and it integrates well with other Adobe tools which are the top tools in their own respective industry's. A lot of people are trained to use it, doesn't cost a ton for students & businesses, and it's got excellent support.

KoolMoves is for that guy that never needs Flash 99% of the time and suddenly needs to animate something in a pinch.

I did, back in 2002, it was $10, and I still get updates!

Rochard 02-28-2013 09:17 AM

I have never pirated software. Usually the company I worked for bought them.

Acdsee is one of my favorites. I couldn't live without it. I recently had to download it again for a new computer, and they told me my download access had been shut down so I had to buy it again. I am also using a older version of CuteFTP that I bought years ago...

crockett 02-28-2013 12:53 PM

Why pay for winrar when you can use 7zip for free?

grumpy 02-28-2013 01:14 PM

if they dont have a descent trial, i will pirate it and if liked i will buy it.

Tofu 02-28-2013 01:29 PM

When the studio was young, we used a pirated Logic Pro. That was before we purchased Pro Tools HD.

Photoshop/Audition. Oh god....many years of pirated copies that you'd have to crack in order to use.

grzepa 02-28-2013 01:49 PM

snagit is awesome

candyflip 02-28-2013 01:53 PM

I've always had access to student licenses for Adobe and Apple stuff, so I've always just used that.
