On an unrelated topic: it saddens me that "Artist Development" is no longer a necessary department at record labels. Once upon a time--even if it was a small, independent label--the A&R would send the artist to the AD department and you'd have a coach, teach you the mechanics of whatever type of music you aspired in. Thus, resulting in a stronger artist with more mass appeal (and overall talent) than they may have been, without training.
Today, the only artist development you see is on The Voice or X Factor TV shows. </totally random thought...unrelated to the topic> |
Sean Lee your music is garbage juice.

You missed the mark. There would have never been an "Artist Development" class to "scratch records" and therefore no rap beats that started the whole thing. Artist Development is how you turn out clones that make cookie cutter songs. Gospel, jazz, rock and roll, rhythm and blues, funk, soul, rap, hip hop all originated from the community that had the least access to musical training.....poor Blacks. Now contrast that to classical music where everyone is trained. They haven't come up with shit new in a 200 fucking years!!! These motherfuckers are still playing the same goddamned songs on their primitive wood and brass instruments and believing that playing the same song for 30 years is what makes them better musicians than Prince. :1orglaugh |
