BEWARE of SunDevilAngels.com

SunDevilAngels.com is getting sued by Arizona State University for trade mark infrigement in connection with their athletic club named "Sun Devils".

I almost got in trouble too as I have a domain name registered with Sun Devil Angels in it to promote the site - their attorney agrees to resolve the situation by transfering the domain name to them and sign a paper not to use the name in the future.

Anyone promoting SunDevilAngels.com may eventually get in trouble as they do not really like connecting of their university with any porn site.

This is not new, they claim Eddie was already in a conflict with them years ago when he had tried to register the TM but failed as it was already registered by ASU.

arock10 03-02-2013 10:46 AM

They don't like the connection, but imo athletic club has nothing to do with adult website. Not that I would want to deal with that legal headache.

Btw there was a thread on this already about a week or two ago might want to search around for it

wow, who would of saw that train wreck coming. thanks for the heads up .....................

Not a big deal, give them the name but don't sign anything.

Nice spike in traffic

Unfortunately it seems like girlsdoporn.com faired better with their little scandel clash. Perhaps Eddie needs to find ways to make bigger headlines with less legal overhead. :2 cents:

I do not care of the domain and the site as it has made me no money at all... babes is a hard niche to convert for me, so I have been waiting till it expires.

I just do not like the being on the list of defendats.. :winkwink:

johnnyloadproductions 03-02-2013 11:13 AM

sundevilangels looks really nice, but when I go to girlsdoporn I see girls I've never seen before and they look so damn good, it's probably why that spike is out of control. :2 cents:

But Miss Delaware is getting much more coverage as well and it will probably continue as it's a controversy to talk about. GDP hasn't changed their tour but they've released documents proving she is who she is.

There seems to be something in the water around the ASU campus. The girls are gorgeous

They did the same thing to me in like 2000 when I had a site up for a magazine model/feature dancer BARBIE BLAKE and I told them the same thing.
They probably spent more money on postage and certified letters, you'd think the USPS would have never gone into bankrupt situation! LOL!

Funny thing was, when she quit modeling, I autoforwarded the domain to a REAL person named Barbie Blake, who was a professor at USC...LOL! I KNOW that pissed MATTEL off!

Eventually I let it expire and never heard from their stupid asses again!

ASU and UA (University of Arizona) always compete for the hottest college campus.

It's nice in the fall time, freshman who haven't gained weight yet all tan and in short shorts. University Ave. is a great place to people watch that time of year. :)

I wouldn't think they have any legal ground to stand on here. If you were selling toy dolls off of the domain that might be one thing, but Barbie is pretty much a common name at this point. It's like saying someone has the claim to "richardbikini.com".

You guys all sound so tough when you are scoffing at obvious liabilities that could impact your businesses, regardless of there being any point of "right" or "wrong". Impressive. I guess your non- responses really told them where they could stick their heads in their lawyer's asses.

At the end of the day, when it comes right down to it, Mattel could stack your legal bills so high that it could seriously impact your business, even before it ever goes to trial, and knock most companies out of the game or seriously setback by the inevitable settlement. If they figure out you make enough to make it worth their while, then trust me, any non response is just going to make matters worse for you in the long run.

Just not worth the risk in my honest opinion. SDA should have known better after they already tried to tm it and got schooled. Now it looks like it was willful and they really stand to lose something if they have anything to lose. Anyone associated with it might also be screwed.

Great.

But all the big ass brass balls big nut ballers are here to pump a fist in the air and flip the bird to companies justifiably trying to protect their mark, just like so many of you would if it was your content, your copyright, your trademark.

That just about covers it all perfectly. :2 cents:

The fucktards @ Mattel go after ANY domain with Barbie in it...or at least they were...
That was why I pointed the domain I had stopped using to a legit professor @ USC whose name on the USC site was Barbie Blake.

When it comes to domain names it's ICAAN that handles domain disputes. Which can also be costly to fight if a dispute is opened, we've been through our fair share of them over the years.

Kenny B! 03-05-2013 09:21 AM

What most people don't know is trademark holders must protect their trademark when it is being infringed up or they stand to lose it.

When it comes to Mattel and going after any adult site with Barbie in the url I can't say I disagree. There are so many names to chose from, why use one that is synonymous with one of the most popular children's toys? A good SE ranking will only lead to young girls looking for a doll landing on a porn site.
