Ignore me I am going to have a a rant.....

Every time someone in my family is ill I get lumbered going to look after them - Because I was a nurse its become 'my duty'....

I was just getting some good work done and now I have to go to Southend and look after a sick uncle.

Last time he was sick I was there for a fucking month.

FUCK FUCK FUCK

Wake the fuck up and tell everyone that you can't do it this time.

You will end up taking care of someone for years with no help and when they
finally die all the people who didn't help will treat you like shit.
You will miss all the "get togethers" and hanging out because you have to be there
for the sick person, but you will be thought to hate everyone because you missed all
the get togethers and hanging out.

So Fuck it.

Just kill them all now.

Because I work as a WM (adult and mainstream) and my family doesn't think I have "a real 9-5 job", and because I can work from my laptop, I get called upon to pull family duty, too. Petsitting, housesitting during vacays, post-surgery care (most recently knee replacement surgery and before that a sister who had multiple fractures after a bad horsebackriding fall). Not that I begrudge being a good sister, daughter, cousin, etc. , but I feel like I get taken advantage of as it sounds like you do, too. Maybe I shouldn't complain? Maybe it's the American culture (or you're in UK?) where we don't feel the level of devotion to family in the same way that other cultures do? But it's always me who gets the call to water the plants, scoop the shitboxes and empty the potty chair piss pots.

That is a big part of it with me as well - All they see is that I sit at the computer all day not doing a lot.

The other thing I am dreading about this trip is that I have to tell them a few things that they are not going to want to hear - Then I will be the bad guy for trying to help.

His wife quite obviously has early dementia and they have completely ignored it - He is unwell and something has to happen. I can't tell you how much I don't want to do this, for sooo many reasons...

just tell them you moved to another part of the world
