So fucking annoyed with google adwords

So I have a registered trademarked phrase, words, whatever you will.

I sign up for google adwords and my ad gets approved. I use the keyword suggest tools - and they are suggesting my own registered trademark as a keyword phrase, along with some other keyword phrases that I know are other companies.

Isn't that wrong? They're basically suggesting and selling keywords to a site that they know gets that term searched. So, even if I organically get my site on the front page of google for those keywords (which obviously it is) then they have still SUGGESTED and sold those specific keywords to the adwords user.

Am I wrong in being annoyed?

Nope i've been fighting google for years regarding trademark bidders. We've registered trademarks with google and all of that in hoping it would help.

Here is their official stance on trademark

Quote:

Because it meets both the relevance/prominence aspect of our trademark reseller policy (the landing page is dedicated to the term at issue), as well as the commercial opportunity aspect of the policy (the corresponding items are for sale), we will continue to allow this ad to run with the trademark VIMAX in its ad text.

Note that our trademark policy is a courtesy. Our terms and conditions hold that advertisers are always responsible for the content of their ads; therefore, complainants are always welcome to reach out to advertisers directly to resolve their disputes.

If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Isn't that just shitty.

So then you registered your trademark legally and they still are letting someone use it? That doesn't make sense.

google doesnt give a flying fuck about your trademark only the $$$$$

Google can blow me. I believe Google uses their GA Codes on your site to game you and use your own data to kill your site and help Google profit. It appears to be what they are doing.

Do a test, one site with GA, One site without...See which one you make more money on.

Qft... I have 2 sites, nearly identical in terms of keywords content etc. one runs analytics the other piwik. The piwik site gets shit loads more organic google traffic as its higher up the rankings. Why? No idea, but I believe nothing is for free... so analytics comes at a price imo.
Just look at the uproar atm on G killing Reader in June. Their reason is BS, it's because they can't monetise RSS traffic imo

I am less thrilled with Google Adwords these days too. One thing that seems to be happening is that we are paying more and more for keywords that convert. Not sure of this but it seems to be a weird trend for us..

makeabuck 03-15-2013 01:04 PM

I haven't used google adwords in yearsssss - and I'm trying them on a low traffic site, so I should know right away if it's working.

It's just annoying me that they're offering up my site trademarked name as a suggestion to it's adwords customers. And the name of two other recognizable companies.

Hounds!
