Awful Way To Do Business - GoDaddy
I have hundreds of domain names and sometimes buy in bulk amounts. The bulk purchases always seem to prompt a call from a GoDaddy.com representative thanking me for the business. Last year while speaking to a rep on the phone they offered me a hosting deal at a discount if I would buy for a year in advance. He reassured me that if at anytime I wish to cancel this hosting the remaining months would be refunded.
So, I figured, why not? It's cheap and I'll just use it for a couple blogs here and there. Three and a half months in, with 15 hour support response times and up to 30 minute waits for phone calls to support, I knew this wasn't where I wanted to stay, even just for a couple blogs. I cancelled my hosting package and was informed that I will not receive a refund for the remaining 8 or 9 months. Great guys over there at GoDaddy.com :thumbsup |
always have them send that shit in email before you agree imo
|
sorry to hear that.
typical godaddy suckcess story :2 cents: |
godaddy is a domain company. not a hosting company. dont host with domain companies, dont domain with hosting companies.
|
They actually sucks with domains too not just with hosting.
|
Start slamming them hard on Twitter - that'll probably get you taken care of quickly.

There cross selling when registering a domain is a little crazy. And I believe if you are mailing or anything that can draw complains they might not be too adult friendly. But I am just an affiliate and have never had an issue with a domain there. |

A few years ago I wanted to transfer some domains to them from a different registrar. I started the transfer, paid the fees for 10 domains and then the next day I got a notice from them telling me that since the domains were within 30 days of expiration they couldn't transfer them. They tell me I will have to renew them with the current registrar then do the transfer. Fair enough. I ask for a refund and tell them I might go forward with the transfer in a few months.
They would not give me my money back. Instead they would only give me credit on their site. I was pissed. I paid for a service, they couldn't provide the service and now they were not refunding my cash. After several emails I ended up charging it back and haven't used them since. |
Namecheap are the best for domains and their hosting is not bad.

they usually assign you a rep once you do volume. And that should be your go to person if you have any issues or anything you need.

random story.
one time godaddy called me because they wanted me to renew my domains, and the dude kept asking me which domains I wanted to renew. I had many that were expiring. what was I going to say shitandpiss.com? I said Id do it online but he was persistent. They must get a cut |
I have over 1100 domains with them and used to be a big fan. Some recent changes are pushing me to move my domains elsewhere. Not sure what they are doing.

GoDaddy sucks, it's not a secret...
|
My domains are with Namecheap. Tried their hosting and it was bad. Never again. Good registrar though

I have NEVER once had a domain issue with GoDaddy. Never hosted, but that's {as stated above by others} not what a domain company is for. They have always treated me right...and I am never clear why people bitch and whine about them, when I don't do anything different than you all could. Other than I have hundreds of domains there...but, many of you do, too. |
All my domains are "not" registered at godaddy so i guess that's the only secret though.
|
I was searching for a few premium name domains this week and had to call them as they locked up account so they could try sell me those names over phone seems they are making sales opportunities for them selves.
