Cops in the US are out of control at this point....

Notice this.... no surprise.,

http://jezebel.com/5991019/forty-per...estic-violence

"Forty Percent of Police Families Experience Domestic Violence
Laura Beck

In fact, domestic violence is two-to-four times as prevalent in police offer families as it is in the general population. Yikes.

The National Center for Women & Policing report that two studies have found that at least forty percent of police officer families experience domestic violence, in contrast to ten percent of families in the general population.

This is scary for many reasons, but perhaps most especially because police officers have privileges and accessibility that the average citizen does not.

Domestic violence is always a terrible crime, but victims of a police officer are particularly vulnerable because the officer who is abusing them:

1. has a gun,
2. knows the location of battered women's shelters, and
3. knows how to manipulate the system to avoid penalty and/or shift blame to the victim.

One of the most disturbing parts is that police departments often handle cases of police family violence informally; without an "official report, investigation, or even check of the victim's safety."

This seems almost impossibly shady, but who knows? On all the police procedurals I watch (and that would be MANY), the cops always want to process everything above the board. But maybe that's because our protagonists are "good cops"? Perhaps the reality is that not every cop is Benson or Stabler — it could be that the reality is much more depressing — or, er, realistic. At least it very much looks that way.

Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that NYPD cops are now required to run criminal background checks on victims of domestic violence. Yes, the victims. Jesus."

'two studies'

ie, what's being reported. so lets say 1 of every 2 women in a police family will admit it..

so..

SilentKnight 03-18-2013 04:47 PM

It's too bad those cops didn't see the kid comin' sooner...and interpreted it as a potential physical assault.

I'd have charged the little asshole with public mischief or disturbing the peace. Let him go to the time and expense of challenging it in court.

Xreatix 03-18-2013 09:45 PM

What a load of shit just because they are cops doesn't fucking give them the right to do whatever they please the guy was just having fun omg

I'm pretty sure that "being a smart ass", is not an illegal offense, nor does it qualify you to get a ticket, let alone be tackled and handcuffed and arrested.

Cops are not simply allowed to arrest people that piss them off. They are not little gods.... although lately they seem to have started to get that attitude.

.:(

in what fucked up country is this filmed? :D

Get real, the idiot acts like a clown and gets busted for it. It was all he was after, little punk :2 cents:

lock 03-19-2013 05:41 AM

Do cops have any idea what civil rights are and where they actually stand in the community anymore?

Is "acting like a clown" a legit reason to get you handcuffed and (possible) arrested? Land of the free, I know :disgust

dyna mo 03-19-2013 06:10 AM

if i was just hanging out on a park picnic table minding my business and out of the corner of my eye i see somebody coming at me from behind at full fucking speed, i am going to think that person is aggressively charging me and i am going to react, not respond, because it's startling.

now if i were a cop minding my own business and that happens, i am going to take real action- people cannot just charge at cops because it's fun or fucks with them but doesn't break any laws, per se.

the action those cops took was the wrong one, nevertheless, they were being aggressively charged upon and should do something.

yea, I'm sure in your country the cops would just smile and give you a "high five" after a stunt like that... :error

I don't know if they will smile or simple won't give a fuck (depends on their mood). But they can't arrest you for just jumping over them. And not only in my country but in many other places too. Not everywhere the police is that aggressive and god-like as you are used to think.

Slick 03-19-2013 06:53 AM

I think the cop jumping video, the guy really did nothing wrong, but I'm sorry, if that fucker came up behind me or my girlfriend and either gave one of us a wedgie or kissed her, he'd get an ass-whoopin'.

Depends on a country I believe :2 cents:

DWB 04-08-2013 04:16 AM

Can't say that was the smartest thing to do, but they were going to let it slide until they saw he filmed it. I don't understand that. Is it now illegal to film yourself in the USA?

He didn't touch them or even threaten to touch them. Stupid prank, and the kid is a punk, but I don't see a real issue other than the cops being assholes.

A major issue is once convicted of domestic violence you are no longer allowed to own a firearm. Not that big a deal if you are a stock broker, plumber, etc. It is however a problem if your job requires you to carry a firearm. A cop convicted is a cop out of work something wife's are aware of.

purecane 04-08-2013 12:27 PM

I had a friend get arrested for saying "horses suck" to a female police officer riding a horse. then I, being the smartass that I am, got arrested for not leaving the scene and asking the cops if "this is still a free country".....that was in like 1997 I think. spring break in Daytona beach.
