Best Way To Upsell In a Member's Area?

Being a CCBill program I want to maximize revenue (who doesn't?) so I've begun upselling other CCBill sites/programs inside my 32+ Members Areas. But I don't think I'm doing a very good job of it. I am not seeing increased affiliate sales so maybe it's - shock! - ME. LOL

I'm going about re-arranging how I display the other websites I'm promoting but not being a Member of other porn sites I really have zero idea how to best go about it. It's not like I can bounce around from program-to-program to see how THEY do this.

Which is why I come, cap in hand, to GFY. LOL

On my Index page I display the other 32 websites a Member gets as part of their membership. I used to display all the Bonus feeds there too but moved everything over to a seperate 'Bonus' page, which seems to have helped with rebills (less clutter/load times on that Index page maybe). Then I have a 'Friends' page where I display banners, some sample vid clips etc from the other CCBill programs. But I just don't think many Members are even clicking on that 'Friends' page....

So any ideas on the best ways to upsell and promote other programs within your own Member's Areas? Give me some tips and I'll start promoting you, too!

Thanks in advance everyone!! :)

Try a different area. We have a sidebar on the right side with a few upsells and we also have a separate page like you do. Both seem to work well together.

Upsell to yourself at a discount rate. Works very well for a lot of programs.

Have a margin on the members area landing page for upsells.

Consider integrating their content on your site.

One of the features we have in the Elevated X CMS system is a banner manager with target zones. Some of our pay site customers will load up a bunch of affiliate content from each site they're promoting and list it as a site update and on the page showing the photo gallery or videos. Then on each page are strategically placed banner and text ads leading members to the upsell site.

The result is that your site will be peppered with the content and it will be a "soft" upsell that won't upset your members but will give you a lot more exposure for the sites you're pushing. People are likely to gloss over or ignore ads and upsells entirely but if they're integrated with content it's far more likely to get their attention.

Give it a shot!

Having many members helps :2 cents:

You have a lot of sites. The surfer doesn't know the difference between having access to 5 sites or 35 sites.
That could be your upsell... offer only a handful and then give them the option to join all sites for a higher price.
You will only make more money... you basically upsell what you already give away free.

On another note:

Any models of yours able to cam? Great way for you and them to make more money. Here is a killer new program..

We do this and it works. Everything is content marketing now. Photos, videos or a custom trailer, but content, content, content.

We upsell to our own network at discounted rates and when we have other models appear in our shoot we include a 'see more of this model at' link subtly below the gallery - we don't rake it in to be honest but it certainly pays for itself for the effort required.

We provide content and an amazingly flexible whitelabeling tools that make this easy, take a look at contentflow.

As you get inside my members areas, the first page you see has latest updates (pics and videos) for the site they signed up to, above that content I have a bar with access to the other sites they receive with the membership and there's a banner which rotates between sponsor adds. I also have a "friends page" but youre right, people dont pay much attention to it, which is why I went for the rotating banners. I did add a "free videos" section which has some flvs from sponsors content, with links to their sites... that seems to get more hits than my "friends" page did. Hope this helps :)

Add a blog and make it personal. Make it YOU. Tell your loyal members who already trust you why they should join this or this site. Make it fun. Something like "so I joined this site and blah blah blah, I loved it, with pictures (video) like this {insert content} you can't go wrong, if I weren't a site owner this is the other site I'd join". Stuff like that. Don't make it too "marketing-ish" tho, try to make it cool, like "we're part of a community and just having fun"

This does help, thank you! I'm playing around with rotating banners now actually and that's a great idea about the videos page!! Having 32 paysites (and counting) I'm also looking for ways to do these things across-the-board instead of having to touch every HTML page like I do now. :( Great ideas!!

It's funny because I've resisted marketing myself, the 'Mister Peabody' brand, for a long time now, instead concentrating on making the overall business grow and promoting other sites within my network. But now I realize I'm not hitting on one of my strengths - writing - and that doing a Blog, both inside the Mem Area and outside, is the way to go.

Hope all is well fine Harvey Sire!!
:) :) :)

well, in fact more than a blog you can try a board, make it publicly available and use a plugin to hide content to non members of your site(s), then you can get more signups or add special codes that will unlock features if they signup to any of your upsells. At first, you can hire a couple grunt labor workers to make things roll in the board, simply make them use different nicks and hopefully you'll have an additional income source, or at worst, another feature to your network

Ive never seen MISTER PEABODY WORLD on any porn sites so that's what I would work on. I've not seen or read about your sites anywhere but GFY.

I don't really promote the "network" as much as I do individual websites within the network. So believe me, check the sites in my sig, you've seen them ALL OVER the Internet. :)

Thanks Harvey! Great suggestions!!

Do your members get access to every site with one membership? If so you could maybe look at having a general header across the whole members area, with a banner in it that you can control from one piece of code. If you want to switch up/ remove/ add a sponsor, you dont have to edit every single site. Saved me a lot of time :)

Make it really cheap like $1 then auto-renew after 2 days at $30 bucks.

I'll vouch for Rasmus at Porncastle PB, hes a good genuine guy!

Also, if you're up for some members side cross promoting, we're up for that, sure.
What's worked with us and other partners is offering discounted memberships. I.e. on Splatbukkake, the `friends` page offers a discounted subscription to another cumshot site. Same niche PLUS a discount tends to get a return.
(And then getting the reciprocating site to put together a similar discounted cross-sell pointing them towards our site)

Hit me up anyway fella.

I'm a math, machine learning and information retrieval geek. I've never applied it to a members section of an adult site, but I've been thinking of doing it for a while. This may sound a bit far fetched, but let me try to explain what I am thinking :)

Each visitor is interested in a specific set of content and attempting to sell him/her on something else won't work. The trick is figuring out what kind of content that specific user is looking for. An easy way of doing that would be using the visitor history of all the users of the site to see which types of content are viewed together and automatically make "clusters" that describe each of those content types. Then you can assign a new visitor to one of those clusters, based on what content that specific user is looking at (and has looked a previously), and show them only affiliate content that is related to his/her interests. There are of course many other ways of recommending content to users, but that would be an easy way to start.

I'm not really sure what my point is.. maybe I should develop a product and market it to site owners :) Anyway, now you know that there are options for optimizing affiliate sales based on the interests of each user and I think this industry could benefit greatly from using algorithms to maximize profit.
