First time victim of credit card fraud, here.
Just got a call from my CC company about a few fraudulent charges. The strange thing is
I haven't used it at any public terminals or haven't given my card to anyone other than to quickly swipe it. These charges came after a few days of when I last used it. There were multiple charges to it and they declined a $480 charge at walmart.com I tried to get information from them about what ip this would have been purchased from. I wonder if criminals are making purchases from infected computers in the vicinity of the victim to circumvent any geo fence. Beats me that they couldn't tell me more. |
:Oh crap

you shouls watch a show called the real hustle, there are many methods how someone can steal your card and clone it easily. Watch out when and where you use it.

Happened to my wife. She used her CC and was denied. Came home and called the bank and was told that someone in Southern California had been using her card in a fraud ring and was arrested by the FBI or something. Never did get the full story.

Sometimes merchants can get hacked and that's always a possibility. I've only purchased through Verizon and a 3rd party software vendor for academic licenses. Hmmmm... |
