Mine have gone up quite a bit. I am thinking of selling a few to get my money back and just riding the rest.

Only a Ponzi scheme charts like that. (There?s no revenue model; all growth comes from ?investors?. So this is a speculative bubble in its pure form. It?s not comparable to a startup company.)

When a Ponzi scheme crashes, it crashes fast, and it crashes all the way.

don't be too hard on yourself. no one can predict these things, especially after all their security mistakes.

There's a future for digital currency only if there is trust. Bitcoin is ripe for hyper-inflation. Hyper-inflation is not a financial event, it is a political/societal one.

You either have no clue what a ponzi scheme us or what Bitcoin is.

A great example of an extremely long running ponzi scheme was the Madoff Investment Scandal, dating back to the early 1990s. BitCoin by comparison is still young in comparison and whilst most pyramid and ponzi schemes are pump and dump affairs there?s no reason why they can?t operate under the guise of being legitimate for many years before the house of cards starts coming down.

Dirty F 03-28-2013 12:10 PM

It simple had nothing to do with a ponzi scheme. The only reason you think it does is because you obviously don't know how Bitcoin works.

Dirty F is completely correct. bitcoins cannot be a ponzi scheme.

fact is, there are multiple distribution spots/channels, no centralized distributor, the price is completely liquid and you can buy and sell at any time on any exchange you wish.

Caligari 03-28-2013 12:16 PM

yep, you remember all the people on this board who had a laugh with bitcoin?
c'mon smart guys laugh it up now ahahaha

i still have
bitcoinvideos.com
bitcoinvod.com

for sale...

pm me

and as with bitcoin the prices have gone up accordingly.

fact is that 1 billion of imaginary wealth was created, which is as real as the $$$ amounts on quarterly statements that Maddof sent to his investors... :2 cents:

it is like it in many ways though, maybe one person does not have control over it but it still is what people make it and it could tank just as easy. I sold mine at a 1400% profit so I am happy. Yeah I will cry if they double from today but still have to be happy either way.

_Richard_ 03-28-2013 03:21 PM

franck finds out what a bitcoin is last week

and this week he's an expert?

absolutely agree. that does not make it a ponzi scheme. the nyse runs on rumor, from what i've read, it's a gossip circle on wall street. in that sense, certainly the stock market is the same sort of exchange.

:)

Yeah well we all operate in imaginary dollars don't we ?
It's only numbers people give a value too. We'll see how it goes.

Sly 03-28-2013 03:53 PM

I don't know much about these, barely anything. But I remember at one time there was something about using processor power for mining. What was that all about? I have a lot of processing power sitting in my office. Does that still exist? If so, how does it work and is it worth setting up? I have a beefy i7 sitting here doing nothing most of the time.

I mean smart people will profit here from all the dumb people. Smart people sees that bitcoin value is based solely on how many dumb people will think its a "real" currency and so on.
Nobody says you can not make money from stupid things.
