After spending thousands of $$ on a film would you allow people to watch it for free ?
Just came across this full movie on Youtube with this message, seems to me that they were being fucked and I think its a shame that small media companys like this dont really get a look in over the big media companys who distribute so many shit films nowdays.
Here is part of the message before the movie. When it came to seek distribution we were told time and time again by exclusive contract distibutors and sales agents that although they enjoyed the film, they did not want to take it on because they feared it would not sell for the reason that 1 It did not have any celebrity actors 2 It did not have enough nudity/sex and/ or violence Those who have come out to Dystopia screenings (held recently at charitable events) have enjoyed the film without celebrities or added adult material. We have found it rewarding to see a wide demographic of people from teens to seniors not only attending sceenings but comming up after the movie to buy copies of the DVD. We set forth with distibution through non-exclusive distributor channels to find that although we were still responsible for the marketing/promotion of the film that they took most of the money for hard copy and VOD sales. And so we ( Zomular Media Group LLC) decided to make this film which we are very proud of, available here free of charge for the world to enjoy. It id far more important to us that people enjoy our film than to allow any profit motive to limit the availabilty to anyone who wishes to view the film. The film is called Dystopia I think that some of the actors in this film are far better than a lot of celebs too |
What 'celebrity' actors were in 2001: A Space Odyssey?
I must've missed the sex scenes, too. :( If I put my thunkin' cap on...I could likely come up with at least a dozen films over the years that didn't have known actors, sex or violence...but turned out to be damn good films. I guess some of these movie distribution companies fail to see past the almighty buck sometimes. It's a shame. |
Maybe Chris Mallick could offer some advice... he's never had a problem with generous amounts of funding, but distribution has been a bit hit and miss.

The film maker, Kubrick was the celebrity.:2 cents: |
Imagine how hardcore production companies feel.. ones who invested millions in a show or movie.

It didn't get funding because it's a complete and utter pile of shit! :2 cents:
People with real talent don't need much money to make great films. Check out Christopher Nolans first ever film he made for $6000 Following (1998) - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0154506 |
