Hi guys! I need a CMS for a mainstream site

Long time no see! :)

I'm starting a little project and need a good content management system. It's for a "yachts for sale" listing site.

I'd like something that will allow the user to pay a fee, upload their pics, descriptions, and fill out appropriate fields pertaining to their listing. Would resemble a real estate listing site I suppose.

I only began to do a search and figures I could save a ton of time by simply asking my peeps here. :upsidedow I hope all of you are doing well. I miss GFY!

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :helpme It would also be helpful to refer me to a good, goto guy for customizing and tweaking the site here and there as we go. Thanks ahead of time!

That was the main thing I kept finding after looking into it. I guess I'm trying to complicate things as usual. I just found a plugin that should work http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-property/

But my question is... Will it be easy to set it up to take paypal? I hope that's not a dumb question. It's been a while.

I'll go start reading and get caught up. It used to be just for basic blogging.

I used to always suggest them too, but lately everyone an their brother is getting their WP hacked. Of course they don't update it, so as long as you don't mind checking for updates once a month I say WP is still the best.

why not just pay for something. isn't WordPress a little over saturated bullshit by now ?

this is a very good plugin and you can add paypal to it, but you don't need it and you're over complicating yourself. Simply use any shopping cart script (even free like http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/eshop/ ) and sell the listing, which you can achieve but setting up a special role with the ability to upload images and add content and voilá, you got it :2 cents:

This is super helpful. Thank you so much. I see that it's compatible with WP affiliate... Might as well have an affiliate option as well so yacht brokers will be more likely to link to the site. It's going to be a FSBO yacht sale site.

Setting up a special role to upload images is part of this basic shopping cart system? Sorry for all the questions. In the past, I'd have someone just do this for me but I think I'm gonna tackle it myself for now, just to get it up and running. There is a local boat show this weekend and I may just be able to have something in place by then, I hope.

Thanks for all the tips. Please keep 'em coming! I always feel like there's something I'm forgetting...

what if users should have an account, login and edit/delete their listings? Is wordpress still good for that too, I mean is it easy to set up? I don't mean that users login to backend, but to frondend and sees all their ads, then choose which one to edit, delete etc.
