Scientists find treatment to kill every kind of cancer tumor
Researchers might have found the Holy Grail in the war against cancer, a miracle drug that has killed every kind of cancer tumor it has come in contact with, the New York Post reported.
The drug works by blocking a protein called CD47 that is essentially a "do not eat" signal to the body's immune system, according to Science Magazine. This protein is produced in healthy blood cells, but researchers at Stanford University found that cancer cells produced an inordinate amount of the protein thus tricking the immune system into not destroying the harmful cells. With this observation in mind, the researchers built an antibody that blocked cancer's CD47 so that the body's immune system attacked the dangerous cells. So far, researchers have used the antibody in mice with human breast, ovary, colon, bladder, brain, liver and prostate tumors transplanted into them. In each of the cases the antibody forced the mice's immune system to kill the cancer cells. Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/health/2013/0...#ixzz2PYqS5MVf |
That's wassup

I saw that a few days ago - Fingers crossed....

Sounds great, fingers crossed it's as good as it sounds

They were working on a "kill any cancer Vaccine" in Israel, too.
What happened to that one? Still in the works? Edit, googled it: "In a breakthrough development, the Israeli company Vaxil BioTherapeutics has formulated a therapeutic cancer vaccine, now in clinical trials at Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem. If all goes well, the vaccine could be available about six years down the road, to administer on a regular basis not only to help treat cancer but in order to keep the disease from recurring. The vaccine is being tested against a type of blood cancer called multiple myeloma. If the substance works as hoped — and it looks like all arrows are pointing that way — its platform technology VaxHit could be applied to 90 percent of all known cancers, including prostate and breast cancer, solid and non-solid tumors." http://unitedwithisrael.org/israel-d...ancer-vaccine/ |
So now we'll live forever?
|
Man, I really hope something like this comes to the market soon. Cancer kills too many people.
Hopefully it is affordable for everyone. |

Cuba have some kind of lung cancer vaccine that transform cancer in chronic lung 'problem' but without death
|
That is great news.
|
wait, so the 'they wont allow cancer cures' brigade were wrong?
|
Why is this being reported in the media now? This was work published over a year ago...

So the NYPost is taking news that's a year old (there's no cure for cancer)and act like they're breaking some great new discovery? and then FOX News reports it secondhand. They should get the Pulitzer for this one.

FUCK CANCER.
This would be a an incredible breakthrough. |
Apparently they will start testing on humans in late 2013 or early 2014.

I sure hope cancer will be cured for good.
|
shit i hope they make the cure and that this is not just a BS story...
|
This would be amazing, but so many scum bag lobbyists for chemo type drugs would have this held up in FDA approval for years. All this out of pure greed that could save millions of innocent people.
I would love to see these cancer treatment centers have a big "for lease" sign out front in two years because they are no longer needed. |

I fully expect this sort of research to yield results as i worked in a lab doing the exact kind of work they used to find the anti. The problem is it is very much hit and miss. Literally like picking any spot on a darkened map, and then trying to explore it. Add to that that only a very small portion of the map will remain constant, the other parts keep changing as it mutates and evolves. I have posted about this before, i sometimes look for the guy who i used to work for online, see what he publishes. |

ok I had to stop there.. The New York post is nothing more than a political gossip rag.. When we start seeing people treated by this or it gets a publication by some major medical journal then I'd believe it. |

http://stanmed.stanford.edu/2012summer/article7.html "Mechanism of Protein Initiation Without Formylation of the Initiator Methionyl-tRNA." is another branch...if something cant replicate...it cant grow..and dies on its own. |
It will be killed and buried as fast as they can.
Tooo many people will lose jobs because of this. |

Too many other things to study. Imagine if we could unleash 10000 sub geniuses on other problems we currently face in the Biological Sciences. |
I see similar news every few years and it's always been a failure.

best luck with that.. |

These companies go out of their way to protect their property and there is no telling if this will be affordable or not should it ever hit the market. Quote:

maybe this is a major leap - love seeing Stanford involved in it rather than some little known institute. Stanford is filled with the world's top minds in many disciplines. |
so if you are dieing of cancer now this really just pisses you off more right? 6 years from now lol, yeah you are dead by then but you can die knowing there is a cure or maybe. You will never know.

Excellent, we can all go broke paying for nurses to wipe even more old people vegetable asses sitting in nursing homes.
|
You gotta wonder why it's taking so long though really!
|
wow a month or so ago they found that bee venom can kill hiv and now this.
I hope its true and comes out soon I wanna fuck and smoke cigarettes again |

If you put out a medicine that killed cancer and charged $25,000 to each patient who wants it, you would be a TRILLIONAIRE. About 1,500 people die of cancer every day, and each of them would take out a second mortgage for a drug to save their life. |

The average cost to treat cancer now is close to $300,000. There is a reason there has not been one single cure for any disease EVER. |
