Johnny Cash - your favourite song ?

written by NIN and absolutely smashed by JC!

I never understood Johnny Cash's popularity. I can respect his longevity in the business, but I personally do not like anything he's ever done.

Honestly, I would have said the same less than two years ago.

Then I heard Folsom Prison when Joqauin Phoenix sang it and went searching for the original, grew from there.

CurrentlySober 04-05-2013 03:12 AM

I cant afford either a Johnny Cash, a Folsom Prison or a Joqauin Phoenix... :(

I was a bar where a Johnny Cash cover band (called Johnny Horsepower lol) played a few weeks ago with the gf, now she loves his music. She even went as far to have me go ask them how much they wanted to play at our wedding hah

I'd say my absolute favorite is Walk the line.

georgeyw 04-05-2013 03:40 AM

ADG - walk the line at San Quentin = just behind Folsom for me - great songs.

Boy named Sue is great because of the lyrics.
One of the few artists that produced quality in his later years aswell though

ottopottomouse 04-05-2013 04:07 AM

Taking home from the factory bits of a car in his lunchbox for 20 years to build his own - can't think of the name.

Yeah
It is an amazing song
It is about loving money and having an empty soul, it's about everyone who changed or died, it's about just about everything. What a song.

brassmonkey 04-05-2013 06:13 AM

"I'd love to wear a rainbow every day,
and tell the world that everything's ok
But I'll try to carry off a little darkness on my back,
'Till things are brighter, I'm the Man In Black."
