they are talking about the marathon like it's the most exciting that ever happens in Boston... a national treasure... the most interesting and exciting that thing that EVER happens in Boston... and people sit by their front door all year just waiting for the chance to run down and see that damn thing... you think that's true?

I don't know one person that gives one hopping fuck about the LA Marathon.. I sure hated the damn thing every year when I lived in LA... fucked up traffic every year so bad you were basically stuck at home marathon day.. even if you had shit to do, like go buy weed or what ever...

The Boston Marathon is arguably the best and most prestigious marathon in the world. In a city like LA, where you guys managed to lose not just one, but two football teams, it's not surprising that the LA marathon is unpopular.

Is it something us Bostonians look forward to? Maybe. I'd bet that spectator attendance would be way down if it didn't run every year on a state holiday.

It's an excuse to drink on a day off from work.

The only major American marathon that requires a qualifying time, Boston, run every year since 1897, is perhaps the most widely known race in the world.

yeah its the holy grail of marathons...if your not into it then its understandable but to running and endurance people it is the race that everybody is trying to qualify for and its not that easy.

I have family members who are marathoners, their dreams/goals were always to quality for the Boston Marathon. Most of them did run it already and said it was the best marathon they've ever ran in their lives.

It's a big big deal, especially to runners/marathoners.

Many good times walking down Boylston, drunk with the lads ogling the peaches as they trundle by. Patriots day and the marathon...a free drunken holiday.
