New Blach Sabbath song with Ozzy

Just listening to it - God Is Dead?

It is an interesting year for albums.

I saw Black Sabbath as an opening act for Grand Funk Railroad in February of 1971. TBH, at the time we were all there for Grand Funk, but after Black Sabbath left the stage they had some new converts.

I'm a huge Black Sabbath fan. I just gave this a listen and I have to admit the song was better than I thought it was going to be even without Bill Ward on drums as he should be. Great riffs by Tony on guitar, but no solos in the almost nine minute song at all despite what the text on the Loudwire.com site says.

"new converts" - I see what you did there! ;-)

Heard it on the Kim Mitchell show on Q107 a short time ago.

I'm a big Sabbath fan and been lookin' forward to the new album - but didn't like it much on the first listen.

Maybe it'll grow on me.

Like I wrote above. I was surprised that I liked the song so much, but there's no Tony Iommi guitar solo! I think that's the only thing it is missing in it's almost nine minute run time.

Checkin' it out again - on headphones. First listen was on car audio - heavy radio compression.

Liking it better this time. :thumbsup

42, but who is countin'?

bronco67 04-18-2013 06:10 PM

I like the length of the song. Most of the stoner metal bands that owe everything to Black Sabbath usually have songs that clock in at 8 minutes and above. Sometimes way longer.

Anyway, while I love Black Sabbath, I think some of the newer clones have perfected the art they created -- although this is much closer to their roots than I expected it to be.

Thought the same.

Apparently another of the tracks - 'Age of Reason' sounds like Rush?! (according to one reviewer).

That sounds like a good idea. I just got baked about 20 minutes ago as part of my traditional three day warm-up for 4/20.

Red Ezra 04-18-2013 09:47 PM

I've always compared any new band I hear to black sabbath - is it as good as black sabbath? if not, listen to black sabbath - lol - works for me!

You should sue your school district; you'd have it sealed with a link to this thread.

Lots of early Black Sabbath sounds on the new album from the tracks that I've heard so far.

Should be a kick-ass tour...here is a live clip of new material from a few days ago:

I've never seen Black Sabath in concert, I saw Ozzy at US 83

I might have to make some plans here

Jim_Gunn 04-26-2013 12:44 PM

Even without Bill Ward I'm pretty interested to see Sabbath live with Ozzy, especially since I missed them on the reunion tours in the 90's. Anyone else thinking of going to West Palm Beach July 31st?

seoxpertz 04-26-2013 12:50 PM

I am a die hard fan of Sabbath. Nice song. :)

I never said I didn't enjoy the DIO years...used to play the crap out of that 1st DIO/SABBATH album when it came out...
But, OZZY is definitely "the" Sabbath Vocalist...

Dio (R.I.P.) was awesome too with and without Sabbath. I was in middle school when the Heaven & Hell & Mob Rules albums came out and loved them. But Ozzy had an incredible body of work with Black Sabbath and you can't really compare these two versions of the band.

yes you're definetly right, Dio was part of sabbath, but he was better with rainbow i think, and of course got better when he went Solo, definetly when people talks abt black sabbath people barely thinks of DIO as the vocalist

but god bless Dio man, this guy is the most inspirational ever!

adultGeek 04-27-2013 06:25 AM

yes sure it is... i too loved that...thanks

J.R. 04-27-2013 10:04 PM
