Beating the Speed of light is EASY. No troll

imagine a nylon string 200,000 miles long. If you pull on it from one end, shuoldn't the other end of the string instantly feel the pull?

tokmansta 04-21-2013 08:16 PM

nope, not nylon. And s it floating or on the ground, f to the riction?

Phoenix 04-21-2013 08:33 PM

what if..like the string was red? man

gfy string theory.

lakerslive 04-21-2013 08:38 PM

it would have to be done in outer space ofcourse. Nylon or whatever is the strongest material

Angelo22 04-21-2013 08:42 PM

So if we tie up the moon in nylon strings, we can pull it closer to earth!

Joshua G 04-21-2013 08:58 PM

whatever, nevermind.

Nathan 04-21-2013 09:40 PM

First off, action/reaction speed which you would be measuring, has nothing to do with speed of light. It is "information" that travels, you can not compare that to the issue at hand.

2nd, even with Diamonds, which is the stiffest material, the pull would not be instant, since the atoms still have a small delay in their bound state when they are moved together, it might be tiny, but its not 0.

is it a tampon string?

hows the tax business?

real life faster than the speed of light physics

spooky action at a distance (quantum entanglement)

Light years are fucked up. 6 trillion miles is 1 light year, and the possibly habitable planets they discovered this month are 1,200 lightyears away..

wtffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

Take a car and drive the speed of light, then turn on the headlights:2 cents:

Doesn't light from headlights go faster than the speed of light because of the initial velocity from the car? Kind of like why you see people in Asian movies punching while shooting a gun so the bullet goes faster?

:pimp

Not sure it is exactly this but there would be some variable that was >0 that would fuck it up...

Some Guy 04-21-2013 11:08 PM

A car can't drive the speed of light. Ever. Nothing can. Only light. Einstein called. He wants his 100-year-old discovery back.

harvey 04-21-2013 11:10 PM

funny how people is trying to argue seriously :1orglaugh

Hasn't string theory already proven the possibility of passing the speed of light?

Tho still a theory, so bullshit till then i guess.

This is spooky if you want to believe it's spooky, or you can believe all states are already "made in structure" and whenever you look one direction, second will be in total opposite direction at the same time, and that looks more realistic.
