Am I restricted, CECASH? Is there a loophole?

I am hurt. I was about to sign up for CECASH and when I read the terms, I clicked here at the restricted zipcodes in the U.S and it says I can't sign up. (Louisiana zip code starting with 708). Awww Man! I really wanted to promote them. I know it is a big deal and illegal if I sign up anyway, but what's up with it? I'm hoping the CeCash webbie will answer this. Is there a state reason I don't know about and do a lot of sites restrict La or is it something to do with the website? Because I'm hoping Baton Rouge doesn't have some kind of Anti-porn law.... I probably should have checked before getting into it, huh?

Does anyone else in Louisiana on here, find they are restricted from a lot of sites?

Man, I so want to break the law and sign up anyway....but I know it would be illegal and I am not a law breaker.... PLEASE tell me it was a mistake, tell me you didn't mean to put 708 on that list....:) Is there a loophole around this? :Graucho

:eyecrazy :Oh crap :disgust

x582 02-24-2003 09:13 AM

contact then and ask why you can't promote them. maybe you can use a mail forwarding service or something and you'll be fine.

MattO 02-24-2003 09:16 AM

Drop a message on their message board
and Rowdy'll answer you in a flash.

Cash 02-24-2003 09:23 AM

Drop them a line on their board, and they'll surely hook you up, that must a mistake with the zip code. If not, at least you get their official opinion. They are good people and pay well and always on time (that's I have them as second in my signature), and you have no reason to believe you would not be accepted if you're from the US.

damn. soon everyone will have to move to montana to promote porn sites

newbiewebmistress,

This thread:

addresses that issue.

MonkeyMan 02-24-2003 10:39 AM

I thought this as a free country?

Good thing no part of NY is on that list.

Translation: Zip code policy is not being enforced.

ok, i'm trying to catch up here, because my area is in the "list".

this means it is illegal to promote porn, or view it, or what? that doesn't really make sense. just looking for some clarification.

It means we are on our way to your house.... please remain where you are. Failing to do so is a violation of penal code 661528 Section 5.3

pooterpatty 02-24-2003 10:57 AM

My username and password no longer work for my CE account, I'm guessing this is why. I sure wish they woulda told me from the get-go that I'm not allowed to promote them. God only knows how many signups I've sent these yuckapucks that I'll never be paid for.

Hey CE folks, maybe you oughta add a line or two to your signup script that checks the zip code against your "banned" list.

rooster 02-24-2003 11:02 AM

you can have my account. im sick of 0:8000

fantasyman 02-24-2003 11:15 AM

newbiewebmistress - This has nothing to do with Webmasters, it has to do with surfers. These are areas that are known to be litigious. This covers us against prosecution in these areas.

pooterpatty - this would have nothing to do with your username & password not working. If you forward me your account number I can check it for you. [email protected]

rooster email me your account number and I'll try to help you make your traffic convert. 0:8000 sounds pretty bad since our Follow Me Free program converts globally at better than 1:463 currently. [email protected]

Time to pack it in and give up the porn game, CE is one of the most consistant programs in the world. If you can't break 1:500-600 with them, you suck, plain and simple.

eroswebmaster 02-24-2003 12:38 PM

Okay here's what you do.

Incorporate in Nevada, get a biz license and go to a local "license hang," a shop where you can pay to hang your license most of them accept mail there too and have mail forwarding.

Now sign up to the program using your new Nevada address ;)

newbiewebmistress 02-24-2003 12:41 PM

WoohOO!

So this means I can sign up? I was just about to email CECASH and beg to let me sign up. :)

Thanks FantasyMan and thanks to all of you who offered your suggestions and advice, I went to the CE message board from that link and read some info over there too. Yippee! Now I can get in on this hot program! :thumbsup

Au revoir!

Basically, from what I can see, the list comes from the "hostile" zip codes list, where someone made the decision that these zip codes are bad to promote to because of the likelyhood of obscenity prosecutions.

The reasoning that they use in that thread (basically, that its the equivilant of a warning page on a free website) doesnt hold any water. If you are going to get busted for obscenity, then it doesnt matter what warning you had to people when they signed up.

Furthermore, what validity does the list have? I live in one of the "restricted zip codes" and can buy some pretty damn hardcore movies and magazines at my local bookstore. So, its pretty much BS.
