Bitcoin mining it is also an hardware show off: I have a more powerful and up to date hardware than yours.
Even the most stupid, expensive and not-useful things, can become mass market, if it is "so cool" to have others see you are into it. Never understimate this (I don't).

nobody cares about bitcoins anymore, their 15 minutes are over.

Another very big adult site is coming online with btc soon.

hahahaha i find the desperation of the bit coin crowd highly amusing :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

so basically 2 bars in berlin sell booze for bitcoins...WOW! now thats some front page shit right there! :1orglaugh

imagine a visa ad: 2 bars in peking accept visa! :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

liberty reserve is a pretty clean act compared to most...look how many merchants it has after more than a decade of honest and hard work:

a whopping 17 :1orglaugh

so if you look at it in perspective, 2 bars accepting buttcoins is pretty big news! :thumbsup:1orglaugh

The real problems is who exchange bitcoins from and to dollars ad EUR's, and also the security is an issue - today news:

Bitcoin Central (the biggest EUR bitcoin exchange, based in France) compromised.
?We have been compromised, please do not send any funds to your wallet."
https://bitcoin-central.net/
Have funds been lost? A few hundred Bitcoins have been stolen from our hot wallet.
How did it happen? Someone managed to reset the password from our hosting provider web interface, [...], the attacker copied our hot wallet and sent away what was present.

Banks attack on the other side:

Bitcoin Dealers Are Running Into Problems In Canada:
http://www.businessinsider.com/canad...inesses-2013-4
James Grant, owner of Canadian Bitcoins, got a letter.
Melvin Ng, proprietor of CADBitcoin, got a phone call.

Study: 45 percent of Bitcoin exchanges end up closing:
http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/...hanges-attacks

In fact the bitcoin system may be smart as a source code piece, but, when it is targeted by hackers + banks both, it is quite difficult to exchange it with USD and EUR in stable way...

Getting new users to actually have bitcoins in a safe wallet is by far the biggest hurdle to increasing bitcoin sales. Right now it is just people who already have bitcoins finding new places to spend them.

Or quicker ways to cashout their gains so they can be re-invested elsewhere :)
