Talk about a blast from the past. Images that somehow never made it into a 1953 LIFE magazine article covering CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON have been found. They feature Gill-Man and Kay, and they look absolutely gorgeous now that they?ve been restored to colorific, resplendent glory.

Jack Arnold?s CREATURE is one of the hallowed Universal classics, and came out in 1954. But you knew that.
