hm spain, france and hungary were the most constant (size wise) nations in the last 1000 years..

This is why nothing matters except your own happiness and that of those you care about.

pornmasta 04-27-2013 03:17 PM

it looks like a replay of the game civilization.

United kingdom seems pretty steady

Mutt 04-27-2013 03:34 PM

why i laugh at the Eurotrash here crying like babies about American intervention in Europe - Europeans have been killing and raping each other by the millions forever, same as the Middle East - without the United States being involved.

rogueteens 04-27-2013 03:54 PM

I don't understand why England keeps changing colour (nor why it gets renamed Great Britain half way through) all I can think of is a change of royal family causes the colour changes.

You mean your European ancestors?

I would almost think you don't realize the US is only a few 100 years old.

Most towns in Britain have houses older than the US! :D

bronco67 04-27-2013 04:38 PM

It would have been nice to see the dates going by.

Since 1000 AD? For a starters, that is before 1066. Things changed a bit now and then.

Andreweb 04-27-2013 11:41 PM

3:24 min. of pure history !

FlowerKid 04-28-2013 01:39 AM

yes, obviously but after that, there are still quite a few changes on that map. (Like I said, for some reason England changes to great Britain) apart from 1066 and the English civil war (which at the speed that map is drawn should only be a blip) I cannot think of any reason for changes.

wales joining (most of it) then all of it, scotland merging, ireland in out in out, grabing chunks of france though out the middleages, then depending on who was king, showing as part of france, or part of france showing as britain.

It was fun to watch

The borders within what is now the UK changed a lot. The English civil was wasn't until 1642.

I don't know what all the colours represent either but I am guessing if you watch them you can see which country they originate in and follow.

I would imagine that the reason it becomes Great Britain is because of the joining together of England, Wales and Scotland to be Great Britain (rather than separate states) in the early 1700's which became United Kingdom in the early 1800's when Ireland joined.

The UK/GB/England has changed so much during the span of this clip that it makes it some of the most interesting history to follow. It also why if Scotland does break off it wouldn't be all that shocking int he long term view of history. I mean, good luck to the them but still.

Great video! Would have been better with the year displayed somewhere.

The same things occurred in the provinces of china and regions of Japan. Although I have no knowledge of African history I can guess they had their problems too.

you should look at the grand scale of things.

These wars have happened over hundreds of years.

The US has only been around a few hundred and already had a major civil war.
