Need some help with WP.

After that i moved all my domains to a vps i am no longer able to autoupdate plugins, i have been thinking on doing a reinstall but it will take me forever to backup every thing. Is there a easier way to fix this error, i added the ftp logon info as requested but it gives me a msg saying it cannot find "wp-content" even that the ftp takes it directly to the blog folder(s).

:helpme

Check the permissions on the wp-content folders.

I had the same issue a few days ago - Changed the permissions and still nothing - the FTP would not work either - I created a new FTP user and made its root the WP directory - That worked...

Never had it happen before - I think it is something to do with the account used to run Apache - I got it going with FTP in the end so I stopped looking for a better solution......

Did you also move the sites over? What method did you use on moving them over? I have moved many wordpress sites and never ran into this issue.

I find it easier to create a new wordpress. Move the wp-content folder over. then export and import the XML files.

This is like the quintessence of GFY's help requests: "please help me with something obscure, I won't give you any info whatsoever, you need to figure it out using your crystal ball"

Anyway, it depends on many factors. What Supz says (permissions or importing into a new install) should work in 99% of scenarios. Since you provide any info at all, it's hard to guess, but assuming you also changed domains, check your .htaccess file to see if there's any reference to the old domain. Additionally (but less likely) check your wp-confip.php file and also your index.php file and make sure there are no spaces after the last php ?> sign. Check if pluggable.php is there. Re-upload wp-admin and wpincludes folder. I don't know, just throwing ideas based on no information at all.

As we're at it:

I moved from one host to another they moved the domains and the content, every other domain works fine as they are not on wp. Only my blog is messed up they say they have fixed it, but i am still unable to upgrade.

So i think i will just make a fresh install on the new vps and import db and everything else i might need.Any ways thanks for all the responce.

xd

depends on the configuration of the host. you probably have some added security on the vps which might be a good thing. you can always upload the plugin via ftp.
